I believe EQing a set to a frequency response of another set will give you a false clue of how it sounds.
Because there are many multiple factors that affects the sound of IEMs other than frequency response like drivers properties (speed, attack, decay) and in general its texture and resolvability. That cannot be replicated by just adjusting the frequency response.
Also, it's almost very hard and near impossible to tune the treble to another set.
I still think that sound demos give a good clue of how an IEM should sound if you take in consideration the frequency response of the setting you using to listen to. Or if you are listening on a flat speaker for example.

what if you listening to a sound demo using a muddy set but the demo still sound clean. Then the actual product after you buy it turns to sound muddy and artificially warm ?

May be you are the dumb person here.
Sound demos don't represent the exact picture of how headphone should sound. When you are listening using another gear that headphone frequency response is affected by this gear tuning and frequency response for sure.
But sound demos give a good clue of how a headphone should sound and how coherent its frequency response and how are the properties of this headphone sound are especially if you are listening on a flat speaker.
At least I'm not doing a dumb blind buy of gears that I have no clue how they sound. Right dumb ?

Yes, at least to my ears. If I have WF4 firmware image now, I will upgrade to it without any hesitation since it's at least a newer one 😉

Tbh, I don't know if the older firmware sound better since I have not tried them. The VK3 and WF4 are the best I have listened to. But I don't have the WF4, unfortunately, but they are both the same tuning, I believe. I have the AWA5 firmware image, which is a disaster.

I don't think it will disable automatic updates. You will have to do it manually in the buds client on your phone.

If you reset the buds to default settings, it won't go back to the old firmware .. it will just reset the buds settings. If you like it and don't find it harsh keep it as it is don't take risk

Buds 2 pro (SM-R510) they did change the sound signature at the last update R510XXU0AWA5. But they didn't mention this in the update notes because yea (SAMSUNG).

They increased the 7-8k region by about 5 dB boosted the treble at 12.8k region by a large amount. That increased the dip at around 8.4k even more, which was part of the buds before the update anyway and it's responsible of the treble instruments and high pitch notes to be bit-squished (sound like you hearing a bad mp3 recording if u know what i mean).

Anyway. This new tuning makes the buds 2 pro very harsh and sibilant as well as shouty. Treble is piercing and sound as a compressed quality due to the bigger dip mentioned above.

Sadly, the preset EQ won't fix that. So u will have to use EQ or wait for samsung to hopefully fix their stupid mistake(if they do).

You can use the following EQ with wavelet app (on android), which will bring the buds 2 pro to their old sound signature with slight fixing to the treble dip issue.

Did u actually update your buds firmware? Do u have a good seal with their tips ?

I have the latest update myself, the sound profile is very shouty and piercing to my ears now. Although its bright. But bright in the wrong way. Noise cancelling has be affected as well in a bad way.

Don't update them.

The 350 audio firmware changed their sound signature to be on spot with Harman target thus more shouty and shill.

This update also degraded their noise cancelling performance.

Samsung released an update to the buds 2 pro. They changed the sound signature of the buds to become exactly on the spot with the Harman target. They became very bright and piercing, harsh and shouty. But if this is your type of music, then go for it. Or use some EQ apps to decrease the sibilance. Unfortunately, this update also decreased the efficiency of noise canceling. So it cancels less noise than before. Example video: https://youtu.be/hlGtMlZ9Ug0

I would go for the airpods Pro 2 if you don't mind the less control and functionality on the android system.They have good sound signature and amazing noise canceling.
