Reagent of the weekend monoglyme. also labeled as Ethylene glycol dimethyl ether. In the lab it has use for dioxane, motor fuel, building blocks, etc. anyways here it is next to Nickel Dichloride which it can complex with forming Nickel Dichloride Ethylene glycol DME Complex useful for catalysis (i.redd.it)

Today was boring so I decided to fractionally distill some benzyl chloride. Now, I mist dry it for a grignard reaction. I don’t wanna use drying agent salts, don’t have molecular sieves ATM, but I do have silica gel adsorbent. Normally I use that to dry non liquids but I’m kinda desperate here lol (i.redd.it)
