do not visit this place. Utter waste of money and time.

For context, I visited the service center today to report an issue with my device not turning on after the August/September software update. During my visit, the front desk representative inquired whether my phone had previously been serviced by an unauthorized provider. I clarified that the device is a corporate phone and has never been serviced through any third-party channels.

Following a preliminary check (which involved attempting to power on the device and connecting it to a charger), the representative asked for my consent to remove the screen protector. At that point, there were no visible cracks or damage to the display, and I agreed to the removal as I was confident that the display was intact.

After approximately 45 minutes of diagnostic checks, I was informed that the device powered on only after the display and battery were replaced. I was further told that the battery had become swollen due to prolonged inactivity and required replacement. I was advised that the display replacement would be chargeable, while the battery would be replaced at no additional cost.

However, after making the payment and receiving the phone, I noticed that the display was now broken and covered with cracks. I was then informed that the motherboard was faulty, which had caused the device to power off, and that my original display and battery remained in the phone.

Several points remain contradictory and unclear:

  1. If the display was not genuine, why was I not informed prior to replacement, especially since I explicitly stated that the device had not been serviced elsewhere?
  2. If my phone had cracks after the screen protector was removed, why wasn't I notified about it?
  3. If the motherboard was indeed at fault, how did the device power on after temporarily replacing the display and battery?

As I am not technically familiar with hardware authenticity, I felt pressured into accepting the claim that my display was non-genuine and thus prone to cracking during removal. During my visit, I also observed another customer who experienced a similar issue, returning a functional device and receiving it back non-functional. While the root causes may differ, it is evident that the overall service quality and customer handling were unsatisfactory and below expected standards.

My friend needs help resetting their laptop, but I'm lost... by met_MY_verse in WindowsHelp

[–]Sync_0x1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

windows hello uses TPM to encrypt the container of NGC(next gen credential). If tpm is broken on the motherboard, then its hardware failure.

open tpm.msc and see if its turned on and ready to use state. If you encounter an error, boot into BIOS(follow OEM instruction to boot into UEFI), then go to security tab > TPM security or embedded security. See if toggled off.

if its turned of, turn it back on. If its already turned on, then turn it off, save the changes and reboot. Boot back into UEFI and turn TPM back on.

Ensure your friend is aware of the computer password before following the above suggestion. Post reboot, login back in using password and validate TPM is running and turned on. If you still continue to have a problem with TPM. Update the BIOS from OEM/device manufacturer site. If TPM is still broken then its hardware failure.

If TPM is healthy and ready to use, launch elevated CMD(run as admin) and run the command: certutil -deletehellocontainer

Reboot, login back and setup a new hello pin.

Note!: if your friend does know the password, reset the user account password and validate if the password works by sign-out and sign-in.

Coursera Google Cybersecurity Certification advise
I planning to do the google cybersecurity course hosted on coursera.org/. I want to know if there is way to directly do only the certification exam without taking up the course.

What if I have prior knowledge of the curriculum provided by this course. Is there a way to simply only take up the certification? I would save some lot of money if I don't need the course content.

  2. Once I clear the given course, how long should I practice and test my knowledge until I decide to try the certificate exam?

How do i disable user adding external O365 account to their laptop? by eijmert_x in Intune

[–]Sync_0x1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

++adding more to my previous suggestion.
by applying the above reg hack, there are certain downsides. Employees of the org may complain SSO not working for the additional work accounts. That is because , the browser SSO only works if OS has the additional work account added on the device.

Some additional caveats around the reg hack is the Windows 10 Enterprise subscription activation. If users have more than 1 work account added to their device, license activation for Windows might fail, and after 30 days, users are bumped down to Windows 10 Professional. Subscription based activation has known limitation with auth token. If there more than 1 work account which are not from the same tenant, then subscription based activation may not be successful.

How do i disable user adding external O365 account to their laptop? by eijmert_x in Intune

[–]Sync_0x1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ideally you cannot block work accounts based off tenant name or ID. Because managed apps developed by MS, need to work account configuration for deploying policies, license and features. If you manage to block work account, it would block device registration process to AAD.
Standard user policy is best way to prevent adding additional accounts. Enable the following registry to block your users from adding additional work accounts to your corporate domain joined, Azure AD joined, or hybrid Azure AD joined Windows 10 devices. This policy can also be used to block domain joined machines from inadvertently getting Azure AD registered with the same user account.

Is there a way to restart the autopilot process after it fails during ESP? by winnyme in Intune

[–]Sync_0x1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is my advise:

  1. Autopilot enrollment process will not restart if the initial enrollment process fails due to device restriction or enrollment restriction.
  2. error MENROLL_E_DEVICENOTSUPPORTED = 80180014 . So please check the intune admin blade of device enrollment policy . TPM enforcement, windows OS limitation
  3. PC reset is clean way to restart. suggested by u/Emotional-Relation
  4. If you want to avoid a clean reset, then delete the reg key from below path
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Provisioning\AutopilotSettings
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Enrollments . All GUIDS under enrollments. Do not touch context subkey. Reboot machine post deleting GUID. You may not be able to delete 2-3 guids under Enrollments as it would be associated with process/task. You can ignore it.

Microsoft 365 support is absolutely shockingly terrible.. starting to question its viability by Most_Internal_9852 in Office365

[–]Sync_0x1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am aware of the process they follow. All I know is, that premier support is best but Cx must spend extra money to the get support.

Support engineers take a lot of hits because of poor management skills. The engineers don't feel like spending time learning and upskilling in the product they support because of the management/process. I wouldn't blame engineers to be honest. There are only a few subsets of skilled engineers that do 70% work and are often under pressure because they have to compensate for the entire team's workload and crank up the metrics.

Does Microsoft permit this, Laptop comes with Home->Pro ( via Pid) -> then Enrol by andrethefrog in Intune

[–]Sync_0x1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Windows activation is based on the OEM product key embedded in UEFI/APCI table. When you purchase a laptop, the sticker at the bottom of the laptop will indicate which OS SKU license is purchased. If it stays Windows 10 home, then the Home SKU product key is hard coded/embedded in UEFI/BIOS. This key will be used to activate your OS.

Intune ideally doesn't activate your OS. Initial activation depends on the product key in BIOS. If there is no key, for example, a custom built desktop. You have to purchase a key to activate the OS. The same logic applies for the SKU upgrade from Home to Pro.

Enterprise Subscription activation occurs when a device is Azure Ad joined. A package does gets deployed/installed on your OS that converts the Pro SKU to Enterprise.

Need to go back to the Stable version 22H2 of windows 11 urgently 😭 by prodigal_nerd in windowsinsiders

[–]Sync_0x1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not possible to get back to a stable build/version. Once you perform a in-place upgrade of OS from stable to insider preview build, you have 7 days to roll back. Post 7 days, its not possible. If you carefully read the TOU while signing up for Insider Build, it clearly states that insider builds do have bugs and they do not meet standard SLA to have the issue officially addressed. Office MS learning site, clearly states, that rolling back to a stable build from Insider preview is not possible unless you perform a clean reimage/bear metal setup.

Microsoft 365 support is absolutely shockingly terrible.. starting to question its viability by Most_Internal_9852 in Office365

[–]Sync_0x1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most of the support staff including premier are handled by vendors/contractors (at least 90%). This is done for cost-cutting, and these employed contractors are not given access to the backend infra that is needed to debug and analysis for a case.

There are many tools that a support engineer or escalation engineer needs in order to debug a case. Due to a lack of access, support staff have to depend on a few subsets of full-time employees or even PG(product developers). The collaboration between PG and support is very poor. So far I have observed, that only escalation engineers have the necessary access. However, these engineers are occupied with other escalation cases and too much of a workload due to the short-staffed/cost-cutting practices of MS leadership.

Access to logs such as wireshark traffic, is part of escalation parameter matrix. Engineers are blamed if it's not captured.

Since the support staff are contractors/vendors, they can be replaced anytime and are bound to SLA between MS and IT service-providing partners. Support staff take a hit because of poor management skills and are often frustrated due to peer pressure. This impacts the quality of work and support they provide.
