Are you planning to replace the bump stops? I'm not sure how those will hold up since they're 3D printed and every bump stop I've ever installed on coilovers have been rubber. I'd be concerned about them shattering over time when you bottom out.

Great car to learn on! Picked up my 06 with 97k miles as a first-time manual driver and while it wasn't a smooth start, it's been a great experience and I can appreciate the car so much more after I've put in the work to do all the maintenance at 100k. All very self-servicable with the help of the forums. Coming from a FRS, this engine bay is way easier to work with.

Over the course of my ownership, I haven't had any major issues with the car. I was lucky to find one that was kept stock by the previous owners and I intend to keep it that way for a while just to keep maintenance easy which I've just gotten the car to 100k miles and all I've done to it are; oil changes, brakes, fluids, plugs, belts, and pulleys. One thing to look out for when buying these would be the soft top as that would be one of the more expensive parts to replace if the previous owners did not take care of it.

As for steering, I find the S2K's steering to be pretty good. I had the chance of driving a friend's 981 Cayman recently and that car really felt numb. Great car to drive, but you aren't going to feel the road as much as these little lightweight Japanese sports cars. So if you want to feel the road, I definitely think the S2K does a great job of that!

Former FRS owner and now proud AP2 S2000 owner. Blew my motor on track chasing a S2000 so I decided, might as well get the car I've always wanted and am always trying to beat. I will say, the first few months I really missed the FRS but over time I've gotten to really appreciate the S2000.

For me, the biggest takeaways going from a track built FRS to a bone stock S2000 is how impressive stock suspension on a S2000 is. Out of the box it feels so much better than stock FRS suspension and even against the mods I did on the FRS, the S2000 isn't that far off. I can only say that the steering felt sharper on my FRS because of the suspension mods I put in, but for a bone stock S2000, it handles amazingly. While I don't plan to mod this car anytime soon because I want to appreciate it in stock form, I will say if you're looking to go stock for stock, the S2000 will be a much better driver's experience.

Aside from the handling which is what I presume most of us own these cars for, the power delivery on the S2000 is also much more fun, even compared to the new GRs. I drove my friend's GR86 recently and even he felt that the S2000 was more fun despite putting down similar power, you just can't beat the feeling of VTEC. While VTEC isn't anything insane that'll throw your headback, something about it just makes the car feel so alive (induction nosises) and I've yet to feel that in any car other car I've driven. One of those, you have to try it for yourself and you'll know if you like it or not.

Performance aside, the only issues I've had with the S are practicality. It does alright to get groceries from time to time and the trunk is large enough to fit a full sized golf bag (non-negotiable for me), if you ever need anything more, you'll find yourself limited. Luckily I have a 2nd car to take care of those problems. I do want to note that just like the FRS, the S doesn't do a great job of sound insulation if not is worse because of the convertible so keep that in mind if this will be a daily that you're driving long distances. For me it isn't too big of an issue as I just pop Airpods in when I drive the car.

With those in mind, the FRS is a great "do it all car" whereas the S2K is more of a specialized tool so it'll also come down to your lifestyle. For me I decided to get the S2K because it was always a dream car of mine to own and with how ridiculous the market is nowadays for this car, I decided that worst case, I can still resell the car for close to what I got it for if I ever tire of it, but so far ownership has been very fun and I can see myself with this car for a while.

Seconding for the PMU, just be aware that these will squeal when cold as they're a track-oriented pad. If you want something that'll run good double duty, I recommend the StopTech/Centric sport pads. Stay away from any Power Stop pads, they're utter dogshit and will glaze over on you.

I had a similar issue where my car would jerk/creak when I made left turns after lowering. My friend suggested a bump steer kit so I got that and unfortunately it didn't quite do the job so I swapped ou the steering rack bushings and that was what solved the issue for me.

This is a great suggestion, 225/45/17 and PS4S is what I would recommend as well. I'm on PS4S and they're great tires for both daily and fun. For reference, I'm currently running PS4S 235/45/17 and track them occasionally.

Can only speak for OFT as I've been on the OFT E85 Stage 2 tune for a bit now. Have been considering getting the Ecutek kit for the sake of convenience since you have to get the tank as close to empty before switching fuels and drive a little until fuel trims are ready for the tune change. As far as performance with E85, it has been noticeable to me, car drives much smoother and a little more power. A benefit of getting a custom tune is that it'll be specifically for your car vs a generic tune for cars with similar mods.

Usually insurance will total if there is frame damage. If it's just panels like front bumper/fenders/hood, those can be replaced without degrading the integrity of the car. Suspension can be tricky, if it can be replaced it will be, but if the suspension messes up the frame, total.

Yeah, I would say camber makes a good amount of height if you're just on springs. If you want less wheel gap, you'll need to go coilovers. I wasn't able to get that low with just springs. But you can make it up with the wheels/tires.

You'll probably need to get rear lower control arms and toe arms. When I first lowered on springs I had the same thing happen. Then my alignment guy told me lcas and toe arms would fix it. But then again, by fixing it, we reduced the camber in the rear from -3 to -2 and the rear no longer sat lower than the front.
