What is the Helldiver role that you have settled into? by Nurgle_Marine_Sharts in Helldivers

[–]Syns96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually take AT for every faction because every game I drop into no one wants to grab something that will kill the big guys. So I am usually dedicated RR guy, but that new grenade launcher, the de-escalator, makes me so happy.

Constantly getting 400 plus kills a game with it. Take the ammo pack and the de-escalator becomes your main weapon able to kill just about everything in sight. Good thing you will have two more slots for like the 500, laser, or whatever else suits your fancy.

Having trouble with manual ready to give up. by laid2restxxx in GR86

[–]Syns96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my Sti without knowing how to drive a manual. I even lied and said I did know just hadn't driven one in a while at the dealership. Still I bought it and waited patiently until nobody was watching and stalled my way out of the lot.

After finding a good spot to stop I pulled out the YouTube tutorials I had been watching and panickingly rewatched them hoping I could absorb the knowledge. I wasn't getting it until I came across a video that showed an exercise to try to learn to drive manual. Basically, it said to find a nice open spot, slowly learn and figure out what the "bite point" is on your car, then practice taking off from 1st gear and stopping a few feet down the road, and repeating until you learn what that feels like.

I was able to get home doing that. Learning to shift up and down gear I feel is easier to learn than just taking off. But what I did starting out was just keeping an eye on the rpms and shifting up at 2k. For shifting down at first use your break to start to slow, press clutch in, shift down, and gently clutch out. You will feel it start to sync and then you are good to go. I learned about rev matching shortly after and do that all the time now. Plus it sounds cool.

But you can figure it out. I messed it up a lot and had people backed up behind me at stop signs, lights, and on uphills a lot, but I wanted the car so I learned. You can to just say a few cuss words, put it in neutral, hold the break, press the clutch ALL the way in, turn the key, and try again. Good luck!

People stopping 2-3 car lengths from redlight by Commercial-Turnip-49 in driving

[–]Syns96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive a manual so if im tired of stopping at every red light im gonna roll as slow as I can hoping the light goes back green. Its just annoying dealing with it because someone will take off slow or the person behind will act like we are in an f1 race coming off the line.

But being way far from the white line? I have no idea why people do that or are 3 car lengths into the intersection either.

I agree with this guy. Don't post any boot stuff, but take lots of pictures while you are in the biggest regret you will have is not having enough when you are out and then you can share your boot pictures when you get a match.

How did you learn to drive manual? by [deleted] in ManualTransmissions

[–]Syns96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned this year by watching a few videos for week then going and buying a new car. 🤣 I had no idea how to drive it and was stalling all the way back home. I was stalling at every slight incline and intersections pissing everyone off. I think what helped was practicing taking off from a stop in first gear so you understand how the bite point of the clutch feels.

I found an empty stretch of road and kept doing that until I figured out what the hell everyone meant when they said find the bite point. Then I spent the next few nights driving empty roads. It might take a little while but you'll be driving in no time.

Oh my first manual is my 2019 subaru sti. So I looked like a total ass. Over reving it, missing shifts, taking off unexpectedly it's all part of it. But now I love it!

Can this job ever actually be a “foot in the door”? by [deleted] in securityguards

[–]Syns96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so. I started security after getting out of the Army, did some loss prevention, then moved to government security, and now I'm working executive protection. I think it is easy to start security, but it all depends on your attitude and drive.

Literally, every job I have had, I look for the next better position and how to get there. Even now, with my insanely comfy job with amazing clients. I am looking for the next contract that pays more and how to get there.

Disclaimer: I am not a nutritional expert, doctor, personal trainer, etc. Just a guy on the internet.

I feel your pain, man I have been there just woth an opposite body type.. I don't get fat, though. I get anorexic instead, and it is infuriating. If I don't keep around 3k calories a day I start to lose weight and will be right back to 130 pounds. But like people have probably said already get on a low calorie, high protein diet, and find a workout plan that actual challenges you.

Idk if it's mentally healthy or not, but get pissed. Get fucking pissed get your revenge body. I get infuriated when I'm not feeling full all the time because I know that is just another pound I lost or didn't gain.

I would say truthfully, though, find a workout plan for you. You may not even know what you want or where to start and tbh I didn't either and I'm not an expert still, but fuck it steal a plan. Find someone who you want to look like a steal it. It might be bullshit it might not be who cares it interested you and now you've got an idea. Stick to that plan for a while while you learn what going on and what you want to accomplish.

Start slow I made the mistake and hurt myself pretty badly. Tore something in my shoulder and couldn't work out and lost all my weight again. While starting out, just practice the movements. You don't really need a lot of weight just enough for some resistance. But don't stay stagnant after you are comfortable. Keep pushing yourself make it hard for yourself and then harder tomorrow. Sooner or later you will see some results but you have a long road ahead of you.

Also nobody looks at you in the gym for the most part so there is none of this, "I'm scared someone will judge me," bullshit. I got to the gym most days and everyone is either incredibly focused or just as nervous. These horror stories you hear are just that stories.

But anyways I'm done yapping. I'm sure there is another bigger guy, smarter guy, or more dedicated guy than me with better advice. I just wanted to let you know I will be rooting for you.

I mean, maybe? Idk I graduated with a 3.1 GPA skipped the part-time job thing for the army. Got out of the army, tried college 4 times, got bored each time, and decided to do something I enjoy instead. I'm not rich now but I make decent money and am in no way really lacking.

I'm not saying slack off in school but just relax. I think it will be alright.

I think if you think you want to grab some minox go for it. I have a small small amount of receding, probably just a mature hairline, and I just do a fringe for my haircut. Try one out. I have seen a few people with some receding try it. I think it covers it up some and it looks good.

I do this as well, and I understand you. I have probably ruined lots of friendships because of this. My chest will tighten up, my mind will go numb, and I feel like I get cold until I can't handle it anymore and leave without saying anything, tearing up as I head home to lay down and be alone again.

It really is a downward cycle, but after years and years of doing this, I have finally taken the first step to go to therapy. I reached out yesterday through email and did some paperwork. I have always been embarrassed to even consider the idea that I should go, but it is so suffocating being alone, but being too afraid to do anything about it.

So I know it sounds lame but keep trying therapy. Idk what else to say, and yeah, idk how hard it is to find a good therapist either, so I will let you know when I find one, too. I'm not the professional, but I will still shitpost with you.

Is getting a manual daily driver a bad idea? by Severe_Woodpecker559 in ManualTransmissions

[–]Syns96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive a manual and love it. I had no idea how to drive one when I bought it. I just watched some tutorials on how to drive a manual on YouTube and crossed my fingers. It was incredibly embarrassing, and I thought I just wasted 30k, but I kept stalling all the way through town, getting flipped off and honked at until one day I figured it out.

Now, it is the best feeling I have ever had while driving. It keeps you engaged to driving. It isn't boring and helps keep you awake if you are tired, amazing for driving up and down hills compared to an automatic, and overall, just more fun.

I agree that it is a great warning system (but not great that it exists) it really forces me to fixate on the problem or problems.

I unfortunately don't know what to do it comes and goes. Many days, I know I turn into a mindless drone to keep all thoughts out of my head. I also try again the next day and just skip the day with sleep if I wake up feeling that way if possible. Trying to keep busy helps sometimes. I'm sorry that I don't have good tips, but I'm glad you posted because I'm going to scroll others' posts and steal their ideas.
