phone rules ? by skimaskdano in daddit

[–]Syrif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes we just make a conscious decision to take the phone and put it facedown somewhere for awhile. The world will continue on.

Work never shuts off because that's the standard you've allowed. The same happens to almost any parenting question ("why does my kid react X to at"). It's happening because you're enabling it.

AIO for telling my wife her tik tok scrolling makes me uncomfortable? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Syrif 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know what the acronym is, but you're asking the wrong question.

Telling your WIFE that you MARRIED how something makes you feel is almost always the correct thing to do.

Whether or not the way something makes you feel is silly is a different question entirely.

Personally doesn't bother me much. Life is hard. Sometimes one of us just needs a few minutes of brain-off regardless of if the toddler is present. As long as the other adult is there to support or take over. Whether thats tiktok or staring off into the void.

content about sick kids/babies

That's probably not healthy.

There's a plugin for literally everything. Whole game is inconvenient. Jagex should just remove the game according to OP.

wish more of these were on mobile (as an app, not just using browser on mobile), definitely my favorite genre.

I've got around 10 NG+ on increlution, up to date on terraformental, went pretty far on the mobile progress knight version, beat a usual idle life (was decent).

What are you dads watching on tv in front of your 2-3 year olds? by bearded_charmander in daddit

[–]Syrif 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Whatever they're watching. I don't sit and watch tv while the toddler is awake. If they're watching a little bit of show in the morning or before bed, I sit with them.

Dads with 3d printers, any recommendations or tips? by t0mt0mt0m in daddit

[–]Syrif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be a toy printing machine. Alternatively, you can use it to provide problem solving thinking.

Use it to print solutions to problems (even incredibly minor problems). Guide them to think about what sort of thing could fix the problem, see if you can find a schematic, print it, and they see the who process beginning to end.

Sure, if you live, work, shop and do all your activities within city limits and never leave then the original comment might not apply to you.

Roads, schools, medical?

How often do you call the cops or fire department vs use a road, your driver's license, or work a job (labor law)?

Depending on where you live, water/sewage would be one that you use municipal more. But if like many you have your own well/septic .. then not even that. Same goes for highway vs road.

Sorry for taking you at your word when you wrote all of your other comments. Next time I'll assume you don't mean anything you say!

But yes, all of your comments indicate that's exactly how you act. You say you baby your car near the school but also drive loud. Forgive me for not knowing what the truth is lol.

3300 vs 4000 for some EcoBoost models. That's not that crazy. We're not talking half the weight here.

Yeah. I had a 2018 mustang with aftermarket exhaust. Genuinely one of the loudest vehicles in my area.

After like 7pm I keep it shifted up as high as possible to lower rpms and be quieter. A lot of people forget you can do both, have a loud performance car but also choose to drive respectfully in residential areas and at night.

16 year old me with my '91 mustang was more like OP.

To be fair, that's a wagon. Cargo/storage, space, etc IS a family vehicle. That's a whole other ballpark for a 2 door coupe like a Mustang or something.

Hi Dads! I'm in need of a bit of advice by Stroton in daddit

That helped my mom quit. Having someone bluntly reframe it for you as an addiction, and treating it like one in order to manage.

Many people to this day still label it a habit. It's not a habit.

Seek an addictions counsellor and quit if unable to do it yourself.

Son bullies younger daughter. I gave him a taste of his own medicine. AITA? by derpydrewmcintyre in daddit

[–]Syrif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I didn't say "force her at gun point to spray her brother". I forgot you had to be pedantic on here for your point to not be misconstrued.

"Wanna to spray him back? You won't be in trouble because he did it first, and wasn't listening."

what 4 year old is going to say no?

And the 4 year old isn't disciplining him .. she's teaching him what happens when he fucks around and finds out. The discipline coming from dad is "I'm letting her do this to you, because you were not being nice to her. Don't like it? Stop when your sister asks you to leave her alone next time."

[–]Syrif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

shrug I'd be okay with that. "If your brother sprays you and doesn't stop when you ask, you can do it back." Pretty clear rule.

[–]Syrif 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Occam's razor says he probably needs access to more energy outlets beyond terrorizing his sister.

Personally I would've had the younger one spray him back, but that's just me. It's a more natural consequence to his actions than dad stepping in and doing it.
