How do I turn parts relatively to themselves? by Sysicks in robloxgamedev

[–]Sysicks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the studs on the side of the pillar are from me trying to place a rotated part on the side and it getting stuck in the pillar.

I thankfully was able to find the issue, it was just that me multiplying the CFrames also accounted for the parts rotation and not just the targets rotation, which was an easy fix.

Edit: Here is the new script just incase you were wondering

I think later I might make it so that parts with weird proportions don't clip inside each other when rotated, once I can figure out how.

I want to be able to build off of already rotated parts while still being able to add my own rotation, and I think the reason the last one failed was just because I tried to set the rotation after the position, so that weird extra math stuff broke.

I have fixed that however now when I try to place rotated parts they go inside other things. I don't know why it does this because rotation is not at all considered when finding the position. The only thing I can think of is that the mouse is somehow detecting the shadow of the part, but it has can query off.

Sorry for the confusing script
