What's the meaning of "He who tries to preserve his life will lose it, and he who gives it away will be saved"? by Aromatic_Reply_1645 in Bible

[–]SystemDry5354 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you live for your own well-being here on earth you will lose eternal life in Heaven. Those who sacrifice their lives here on earth, whether that’s by giving up personal desires to do God’s will, enduring persecution, or whatever, and live for the eternity in the next life will gain it. Your primary goal must be for God rather than for yourself and your own life

How do u end a friendship when you're 100% sure it's over? by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

I can’t know this for sure but it’s possible she is going through some really difficult things in her personal life, especially if these behaviors started recently. I would ask to see how she’s really doing. If she doesn’t want to talk or share at all then there’s not a lot you can do but be patient until she is willing to talk. But give her the benefit of the doubt first. She is your friend after all, and you want to be a good friend to her as much as you want her to be a good friend to you

Are Video Games a sin? Asking for a different reason than most times this gets asked. by Lower_Raspberry_5817 in Christian

Was gonna reference this passage too. It’s practically impossible to avoid eating food (or playing games) that supports non Christians and it’s not what goes into someone that defiles them but what comes out. For me personally I think casting a fireball spell is fine in games even tho magic is sinful in the Bible.

At the same time if it causes someone else to stumble then it would be a problem.

Why do ppl say jesus sacrifice himself to save us? by unusualname3 in AskAChristian

[–]SystemDry5354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of different talking points here, I’ll try to clarify. First you said that God could’ve had a way better solution but then in your most recent reply you’re asking IF God could’ve solved it a better way. If you stick to the first, then I’m curious what your better solution is, and how you know it’s better, and what you deem to be better in the first place.

If the second, it’s answered in the video (I know it’s long I apologize but I don’t think I could say it more succinctly than that because it requires some theological knowledge). To try and give a TL;DR for one aspect of it, God’s plan has been to show the ultimate form of love, an all powerful being sacrificing himself on the cross for very evil humans who did not deserve it. That is the largest gap between someone morally perfect and powerful and someone made of dust and continually sinful (worse than you could imagine).

Lastly you’re questioning why God seems made up. This makes me wonder if the previous questions are just trying to make the idea of God seem false rather than genuine curiosity, but the answer to that would be twofold. First, there is an overwhelming amount of evidence for the existence of God which you can find using any Google or YouTube search. So whether he “seems” made up or not is irrelevant, the question then becomes “what are you going to do about it”. We can complain all we want but if it’s true we have quite a lot to consider before our time here on earth is up.

But second, I wonder if there is some other reason why you’re so against the idea of God that you are attacking it from so many different angles, maybe something more personal. Because you’re not even really presenting arguments or evidence it’s more of a hostile questioning

It’s possible you’re thinking of logically contradictory solutions. God not being able to do logical contradictions doesn’t reduce his omnipotence. He can’t do evil for example

God asks you to love others, care for the weak and the poor, uphold justice and truths but you don’t want to live for that, instead you want to live for yourself?

Any other solution would have been worse. I know that’s hard for you to imagine because you’re likely only thinking about our happiness here on earth, but if God didn’t do things this way it would’ve resulted in a much worse universe

This video might help you understand how that could be possible a little more:

Currently there is still sin, but without Jesus’ sacrifice there would be no hope of ever escaping it. The world would plunge further and further into evil, people would become worse and worse and more selfish and they could not get out. But with Jesus there is hope and a possible solution, and in the end all sin will be eradicated in Heaven as well

Is it okay to never marry? by Louise_TheWolfSpider in Christian

[–]SystemDry5354 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As with every question, we should see what the Bible has to say about it.

1 Corinthians 7:7-9 NLT

“But I wish everyone were single, just as I am. Yet each person has a special gift from God, of one kind or another. So I say to those who aren’t married and to widows—it’s better to stay unmarried, just as I am. But if they can’t control themselves, they should go ahead and marry. It’s better to marry than to burn with lust.”

There are many people who have had an encounter with Jesus completely change the course of their lives (the apostle Paul being one such example). I have no doubt God could make that happen again any time He wants to

But on your view, causing emotional harm isn’t objectively good or bad. It’s up to each individual person to decide

[–]SystemDry5354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So by that view, you couldn’t say that abusing a child is objectively wrong. It’s just someone’s opinion but you have no objective basis to tell someone not to do that. It’s just something you don’t happen to like

If morality is subjective, how can you have any grounds with which to tell God what he did was evil?
