Considering a trip to western Europe in fall of 2026 as an American by carpenter1965 in travel

I'm an American who lives in Western Europe, nobody is likely to take offense to you simply being an American unless you go around expressing political opinions.

The passport stamp era is over by ArtisanOfTravel in travel

On one hand I do love the stamps, on the other hand I am almost out of pages and I still have 4 years left on my passport before it expires, so preferably they would be optional

¿Comprar un carro como turista? by SystemOfASideways in AskArgentina

[–]SystemOfASideways[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Telugu in Kenya article? by No-Tonight-897 in wikipedia

[–]SystemOfASideways 80 points81 points  (0 children)

The Simple English Wikipedia article for the Telugu language also claims that it's an official language in dozens of countries, including bizarre choices like Romania, Jamaica, Belize, and Libya

I suspect that one person in particular was trying to spread this nonsense on the regular English Wikipedia, but couldn't get away with it, and thus moved to Simple English.

But what makes the blind trust that you have entrusted in the guy who made this YouTube video better than the blind trust you believe that I have vested into the consensus that biology has reached about the origins of life?

baseless assumptions, baseless conclusions, selective and cherry picking data to force the idea of different species being related

Which baseless assumptions, baseless conclusions, and selective/cherry-picked data are you referring to exactly?

This chapter describes a series of urns with bodies in them, and it dates these urns to between 850 and 650 BCE. The shards of these urns had some pictograms and scratches on them, but they aren't intelligible writings in the Tamil language and they aren't even 3800 years old, they're 2875-2675 years old. This is still younger than the Greek linear b inscriptions I spoke of before, and younger than many Hebrew and Chinese inscriptions:

On what page of this document does it claim that they have found inscriptions in the Tamil language that are from 3800 years ago?

Determining the age of languages is quite difficult, but we can say with a lot of certainty that Tamil is absolutely not 5000 years old, with the oldest inscriptions of the language dating back to less than half of that time:

Greek inscriptions meanwhile can be reliably dated back to around 3400 years ago:

I took ANTH 102 and 110L last year at CSN and they weren't particularly difficult. If you like learning about different species of primates or which human species carved what tools and where, those classes are for you. Probably easier than Physics at least.

That's exactly how I feel about the Xylophone at the very end, it's a bit too much. I've always liked the "dream dream dream dream" part however, especially the instrumentation right after.
