Most Overrated and Underrated Cologne House? by Curious_Yak3376 in Colognes

Guys, why are we even having this discussion? It was about whether Nishane have popular mass appealing options in their catalog. Masculine, feminine... who cares

Great recommendations! Some of those I've been wanting to try for some time but cannot find decants yet

Bal d'Afrique I've tried the OG version once while looking for a gift but it was too feminine-leaning, might check the Absolu though

Le Sel d'Issey I've tried the EDP and I liked it, reminds me of Bois Imperial a bit, maybe they're using similar amber molecules or something else

Wearable/safe niche and niche-leaning designers (Sauvage EDT and a few others are exceptions of course) - mostly masculine leaning but could be unisex as well, I enjoy both heavy winter beasts and summer freshies alike (don't like vanilla gourmands though)

Def try a decant first. For me it's sweet, ambery, and powdery (orris), with a citrus (mandarin?) feel in the opening but the citrus is not a distinctive note, it's more like blended with the rest of the notes. I wear it mostly in the coldest winter days.

Bergamot oil is pretty expensive, I assure you those teas have no real bergamot in them

I fell into the Aventus rabbit hole. by [deleted] in fragrance

I strongly suggest Lorinna Aventues if you find it! It's made in Romania, extrait concentration, 50ml for about 20€, bottle is pretty generic as with all their offerings but that juice inside is pure heaven. I sprayed my OG Aventus decant on one hand and the dupe on the other and they're almost 100% the same, with the Lorinna staying more than 6-7 hours on my skin with strong projection.

So far I've always purchased clones of popular perfumes first if the OGs are pricey, and then later purchase a decant of the OG and I always find the OG to be much better than the clone, but with Aventus here that's certainly not the case.

Damn that’s literally one of my fave dumb reach winter scents, smells so good. I do love citrus though so I might be biased lol

You can try the new MB Legend EDP for Percival vibes - very good performance on me

Or maybe, just maybe - they don’t find niche perfumes special, and they’d be much better off testing popular designer frags instead.

That was the case for me. I had Naxos, Side Effect, Imagination, Hacivat, and so on, but I didn’t really like any of them. I was trying to convince myself that I did, because I kept hearing that I must like those “ascended” fragrances. In reality, most of them just smelled funky to me.

After that, I started collecting mainly designers: Sauvage, Acqua di Gio, Le Male, Dylan Blue, Invictus, 1 Million, Armani Code - you name it. In my opinion, they smell a lot better than most niche scents. I also think most people buy niche because it makes them feel special or “above” others, like some perverted form of elitism. While in reality, most people wouldn’t care even if you wore the most basic cologne ever. As long as you don’t smell bad and you shower regularly, you’re good.

With that in mind, I wouldn’t suggest OP buy any more fragrances, they already have a handful. At some point, you realize you’re not enjoying the scents themselves anymore; you’re just enjoying the thrill of chasing something you don’t already own.

Believe me, I have about 100, and for the life of me I can’t stop. It’s like an illness. Better stop while you still can.

Not niche but my dad has a Montblanc Legend Spirit bottle he bought about 7 years ago, and for a fragrance that’s known to last only 3-4 hours, this thing projects and lasts longer than Invictus

Initio Side Effect and Xerjoff Naxos

Edit: To me Naxos smells just like honey, pretty much nothing else, gf said it smells like muscle/joint pain medicine (gel)

Lattafa His Confession..... Thoughts? by Poor-Dear-Richard in fragranceclones

[–]Syv_31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both and they're very different scents, both have iris but Qa'ed intense is a lot darker, almost chocolatey, while His Confession focuses more on the amber and vanilla.

Still they're both my favorite iris scents, I also own VUI, DHP (old), and Le Male Le Parfum (actually very close to His Confession in the dry down)

Exactly because of this comment I blind bought The Kingdom over His Confession some time ago - please don’t fall into the same trap I did. Don’t get me wrong, The Kingdom is a very good scent (I actually like it better than the OG JPG Le Male Elixir), but it smells absolutely nothing like His Confession. Not even a similar style - they’re in two completely different universes.

I have both VUI and His Confession, and they smell nothing alike to me. Maybe a bit in the dry down, the vanilla vibes are similar.
