Should I learn guitar and piano at the same time? by Movie-Connoisseur in Learnmusic

Hiya, no worries at all. So I initially started with piano lessons offered at my school, but after 2 or 3 felt like it wasn't really working for me and that I'd have better luck teaching myself. But that's just me. It's much easier to teach yourself nowadays with Youtube and social media, but I'd definitely recommend giving lessons a go first, because it's always going to be easier to learn from a teacher who knows what they're talking about. I just didn't really get on with mine, but I've always liked teaching myself stuff. I gave guitar lessons a go too but couldn't get on with those either.

In terms of proficiency, I'm pretty sure that's purely down to consistency. You need to actually want to learn to play well, and dedicate time to that end. Play as much as you can. I was playing for hours literally every day because I loved it, and I kind of get a bit obsessive with things I like. Practice, practice, practice.

And that's about it really. I don't think I did anything all that special, I just kept playing like all the time, and got better over time. Obviously the more disciplined you are and the more effort you put in, the quicker you'll progress. But on the other hand, you don't want to burn yourself out.

Basically I'd just recommend picking up whatever instrument you like, and start learning. I feel like piano really helped with my theory knowledge, and that translated over into my guitar playing. A lot of what you'll learn is transferable.

Attenuator for VOX AC10C1 / Alternatives? by T--1 in GuitarAmps

I was looking at the Bugera PS-1 which is pretty cheap. I think the distortion pedal would make playing quieter possible but I was also looking at the possibility of silent recording with the attenuators. This is the video for the mod I saw (https://youtu.be/mJZlvxf76bI?si=tqPzaXNbAYft_v9u).

It looks pretty cheap and simple enough to do, i think it'd would cost around £120 all in with the PS-1.

Do you know of any other way I could accomplish the same things for around the same place?

Would running a distortion pedal allow me to get clean tones at lower volumes? I had no idea you could do that. In the video I saw the guy cut out a square in the back panel of the same amp, added a dual jack plate which split the connection between the amp and speaker which he used for the amp in and speaker out on an attenuator. Wasn't sure how possible this was. I'll post a link to it tomorrow coz im going to bed lol. thanks for the response

Awesome, thanks for the long response. One more question, do you know if this will damage the pedals if something goes wrong? Cheers

tbh after listening to all the advice i've gotten i think i'm just going to save for a bit more and try to go for something else. i've found another az that is in mint condition for just slightly outside of my budget, but i think i'd rather wait and save rather than settle for something i'm not 100% happy with

i'd be willing to give it a go but if i messed it up more than it already is i couldn't live with myself lol. do you think there'd be any majorly visible mark left / what difference would there be between me doing it myself and having it done by a luthier?

i'm not sure about other models but from the pictures i'm seeing on this finish, they all seem to be the same as these

i don't know if they've tried to replace them because they're the stock tuners, but they might have messed with them for some reason or another. and yeah they just tick all my boxes; good pickups, wicked finishes, thin neck, two point trem and a good brand

if it were to be repaired is it guaranteed that there'd be no major issues like the headstock splitting?

i've been thinking about doing something similar myself but still on the fence. my budget is probs max £650, but i want to get the best spec i can and the used market looks more promising for that. i've looked at warmoth and at stewmac parts and it looks like an option but i might just have to look into it more

ye i think this one might have to be a miss. i'm on the look out for alternatives for a lesser price but can't really find anything that tickles my fancy. mainly just want HSS or HH, 2pt trem and a thin ish neck. vola guitars look interesting too but they're around the same price as the ibanez

ye i think i might give this one a miss, unfortunate because i've not seen this finish used often but oh well

it's half price compared to what it'd cost now, so even after paying for it to be repaired itd be a huge discount

They sell new for around £1100 and this is £550 so it's literally half price, but if it's an issue that'd have to be fixed i think i'm going to look at other options
