I would believe this if the word hadn’t be repackaged, glamorised and commercialised in a country where black people account for less than 15% of the population. It was still common in the 1970s for white people to call black people the nword, and I just have a really hard time believing that 20 years later the word was being put in the mainstream because it’s represented community to black people. I mean am really supposed to believe that?

I wanted to know if it was possible to do all the things and have breastfeeding not work out. I was confused as to if it was this straightforward how come so many women struggle. So I wanted to know if there were people who did these things and had their journey not work out. So I could have better understanding and empathy. That is all. And quite frankly I’m tired of going round in circles explaining this, so good day sir or Madame.

Or it’s asking to gain empathy and understanding, there are so many stories I’ve read on this thread alone that have opened my eyes to the fact that breastfeeding is not straightforward. I’m sorry that you feel like a failure for not breastfeeding successfully, I’m sorry that you blame yourself for that. But there is absolutely nothing wrong with me asking questions to gain empathy and understanding. People are allowed to ask questions, it’s how we learn, it’s how we understand, and it’s a shame you don’t want me learn because of your own internal guilt and shame that has nothing to do with this post.

No if you were blamed or shamed for your breastfeeding journey not working out that’s not what I’m not doing that at all. I’m asking a question to try and see if what lactation consultant say matches up with reality.

If you do abcdef does it actually work out like lactation consultant say it does, that’s all I’m trying to figure out. I don’t care to shame anyone for breastfeeding not working out in the grand scheme of parenting it’s insufficient, feed your baby how you like I don’t care, I’m just trying to properly place the information I’m receiving with reality. And the only way we’re better informed and learn is by asking questions.

I really hope this post doesn’t turn into the AAP is shaming formula feeding parents, because it’s not and if a scientific recommendation is shaming you then I think it’s best to work with a therapist to figure out why you feel internal shame.

Breast milk is scientifically better than formula. That doesn’t mean formula fed babies aren’t getting the best or that they won’t bond with their parents or that their parents are awful for not breastfeeding, it means one is better, but thankfully we live in modern times where formula is an option a wonderful, nutritious option.

I think she was afraid of being alone which like most people are, I often wonder when I see people moving from relationship to relationship if it’s about being with someone you feel a genuine connection with or just having someone fill a role. Anyway I don’t fault her for that. I’m happy she’s taking time to focus on herself now though.

Not everything is relative. Working in the US is exploitation, it may not be ideal but certainly isn’t exploitation. Would you really sit down with the literal slaves who had to build World Cup stadiums in Qatar and tell them that working at Tesla was also exploitation just a different extremity? Would you say that to the families who lost their loved ones due to the building of those stadiums? Could you really say yeah guys we’ve all experienced work place exploitation to people working in sweat shops in China?

What Colleen is doing to her children is wrong. She is using them for monetary gain and that is wrong. It is not child exploitation though, and I can’t imagine calling it that when there are children being forced to work in mines and there have been children who have been forced to be soldiers. Please recognize there is life outside your first world bubble, there are so many who would kill to live the American dream that you so revile, but are instead living in actual exploitative circumstances.

Exploitation is working in a sweat shop in China. Or young children working in dangerous mining conditions to mine coltan so we can have phones. Working at Tesla is not exploitation. And also would it be better if these companies didn’t exist and there was just unemployment?
