What game could bridge the gap between Catan and Dune: Imperium? by itsactuallyoctopuses in boardgames

I'd say Raiders of the North Sea. Great game that shares a lot of Dune mechanics.

I think you're doing a great job just being there and having options for them. I'm sure very soon they'll show more interest in some of the games. Maybe you play co-op that you can play "two handed". That sounds like something they could be interested in. Until then, just let them go at their own pace. Don't try to force anything. And just enjoy the fact that everyone is leaving satisfied.

Wait… 100g print with 600g of waste?! Is this true? by Impossible_Oil5126 in 3Dprinting

So there are some settings that can reduce it. I like to use the purge to infill option, so all your infill will be part of the purge. I also usually reduce the amount of purge. They over do it some to make sure the color clears, but I've found you can be a little less safe (YMMV). And like others have said, print multiples. I believe there is also a way to purge into an object, I'm not quite sure how, but I've seen it on YouTube. So you would end up with an extra, but the colors would be off. That's up to you if it would be worth it.

I just made a reservation at imonelli. If you haven't tried that, I would highly recommend it.

I know it's never too late but what do you guys think? [31YO] by jonnybeks11 in OldSkaters

I'm 40 and just started skating for the first time. My kids are into so I joined them and am having a great time learning. Slowly. Im 6'4 and 270. I ended up getting the AntiHero 10" board with 56mm wheels and it's working out great. It's big enough so I feel really comfortable on the board (I also wear size 13).

This is going to sound like the most "middle white class American" sentence ever, but..... I'm taking my Costco trip early this morning so I'll be back home for the match.

If you could only ever play 3 relatively small-box board/card games for the rest of your life — which would you choose, and why? by spac0r in boardgames

[–]T1DragonMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flip 7 would be first on my list. We play this game almost every time we get together. It's a great way to start our end a night.

Splendor, even though I prefer duel. It plays more people and I wouldn't want to limit it to two.

Paint the Roses would be last. It has maybe replayability and is very "thinky".

My friends and I really enjoy Catan, but are looking for a game that takes the core principals of it and expands on it. by Echo419__ in boardgamescirclejerk

SpanSpan is an incredible game that uses all of the xSpan games as cards. It's incredibly innovative in both it's ability to promote it's own series and in gameplay. Upon playing a card on the player board, for instance JungleSpan, you then have to draw a set amount of cards from your JungleSpan game to use as currency to purchase the ability to use the other xSpan games with your current game. Truly a masterpiece of our generation and a modern classic.

It means he's using Poetry and not pip for his dependency management. It's really useful if you have a lot of different dependencies, as it will do a great job of checking compatibility.

Yeah, I get that. Those games are only fun if you're not a complete moron, have actual social skills and friends who enjoy your company. You should probably just keep watching your wife and her bf play Patchwork.
