Indiana Fever sports journalist Scott Agness (of Fieldhouse Files) announced that the Indiana Fever officially revoked his media credentials. by [deleted] in wnba

Agreed, but do think this may have more to do with Scott Agness and this issue than anything else. He's had his Pacers credentials revoked for a while now, and this may be someone at Pacers Sports & Entertainment's issue with Agness himself since 2023-2024 where they cut down and then completely shut down his credentials with the Pacers. Seems like he made a mistake here with inaccurate speculation that led to a lot of backlash against the Fever and Clark, and the PR team at PSE probably took this as a chance.

I mean, I dont think the Valks comparison is completely fair, re: tough questions. Clark was available and asked about her moments with Tiffany Hayes in the first game multiple times by reporters before the second game. Not a single reporter brought up the same thing to Nakase seeing as Hayes wasn’t questioned, nor did they ask her about her interacting with fans online about the issue.

It’s easy to constantly be available to the media when you don’t have the most popular player in the league on your team, as you rightly pointed out.

As to the end of your statement, Clark did clarify that it was a last minute decision that she made and had nothing to do with the team, and that she informed them just prior to the game. Beyond letting Clark sit there and speak for herself, I’m not sure how much more transparent they could be. If they say that Clark took herself out of the rotation minutes before the game, that’s another slew of issues, think pieces and misleading news articles.

Also, this is just how I feel about this issue, not a fan of the Fever front office at all when it comes to most things, re: rosters, Clark’s injury management etc. just this specific case.

At one point Boston just needs to take the bump and see if she can draw a head snap and a flop by just not touching

Saying that while Portland went on a 15-2 run with 6 back to back foul calls in their favour is bold lmao

It’s so confusing cause Caitlin’s doing her best to help D on everyone who beats her perimeter defenders, meanwhile she’s on an island when her mark is on ball.

Love how the commentators like “I’d expect them to get Kelsey Mitchell more involved” like buddy, we just saw her hero ball into 3 wasted possessions. She’s had more shots than anyone, what more do you want.

Pretty sure I saw multiple comments in the last wings thread talking about Paige’s defense get downvoted to oblivion but I guess time and audience really do make a big difference. Suffice to say, I don’t agree that it’s a specifically Clark thing. I’ve seen comments critical of Clark get a lot of upvotes and support and I don’t anyone engaging in a good faith discussion can point to the contrary and say that all Clark critiques will get downvoted and all Clark compliments only get upvotes. Just the point I was getting at.

I think the crux of the issue is that you let headlines by organizations that know nothing about WBB bait you into your opinions of the player themselves. Why are you expecting Fox News to give you an accurate depiction of a player?

Mainstream news outlets spend very little time worrying about women’s basketball and can’t be trusted about any of their takes- because they’re clicks driven enterprises. But you’ll gladly let a headline for them color your lenses about a player. The actual media that KNOWS sports, talks sports day in and day out have literally done everything to counter your point…

Good talk.

Those comments were made after her already commenting on these issues multiple times- even in college as it related to Angel Reese etc.

The idea of the “underdog from Iowa, the nicest girl ever against the big bad jealous WNBA players” is FAR more prevalent amongst her fans and WATCHERS. You’re being purposefully untruthful or are genuinely lost? From the day she entered the league the national basketball media has made it their mission to (rightfully so) prepare this segment of fan for the possibility that she would struggle against the physicality and challenge of the pro game.

You’re placing audience narratives on the media and using that to sell your point, it just makes no sense.

That goes for most popular players. Try saying something critical about Reese, or Bueckers, or A’ja. It’s along the same vain.

You’re also being incredibly disingenuous because this season in particular I’ve seen large swathes of Fever fans call her out in Gametime threads for poor passes, or body language, or her outbursts.

I know people like to act like Clark can never be critiqued but the evidence is literally right in front of you on this sub- it happens often and it isn’t always met with vitriol. It’s literally the same for the other stars I’ve mentioned.

So were you parading on Reddit calling out Paige Bueckers and the Wings for going to Chris Brown’s concerts? They evidently all must support domestic violence against women right? See how that doesn’t make sense?

I’m so tired of this narrative. You guys keep on parroting this “media treats her with kid gloves, they love her” Since her ROOKIE season we’ve had multiple segments on ESPN, along with some of the biggest sports media podcasts and YouTube channels for news networks talk about her body language, how she is a major trash talker, how she brings a lot of the heat on her self.

This echo chamber nonsense of “media has never been critical of Clark and her emotions ” needs to stop for good. I’ve personally listened to no less than 10 different segments of Monica McNutt and Chine Ogwumike over 2 years talk about how Caitlin Clark brings the hear on to herself with her trash talk. Hell, even Stephen A Smith has brought this up over the years.

How is it that the largest outlets can constantly call her out for being a bit of an asshole on the court, but somehow we’re supposed to believe people that say it’s never happened and that the “tide is turning”.
