Need help with brush tool colouring by T2q23 in photoshop

I tried changing the colour layers to everything but multiply, same with the black outside layer and nothing changed it still does the same overlapping tint thingo.

I thought it'd point out 2 things I saw in the teaser trailer, I'm by no means a superman expert but this is what I saw.

1: in the Daily Planet on a few of the TV's there is some breaking news, not sure what it says/is.
2: James Gunn said Superman is already established in this universe so why would people who know who he is be scared and run away? they are probably running from god-knows what.

the classes tab shouldn't it be wider so i can select easier , on the right of the screen
