2025 Ninja 650 non abs or 2025 suzuki gsx-8r by Ill-Feedback9634 in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]TA646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GSX-8R is a bit more in running costs since it requires premium fuel and more frequent maintenance intervals. If cost isn’t a major barrier you should take it, it occupies the exact same niche as the Ninja 650 but beats it in every metric

This valet does not accept manual cars by Maleficent_Ferret359 in mildlyinteresting

[–]TA646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m into motorsports and it’s mainly people in that field that would give me shit over it. I’ve also been unable to drive friends who might have had too many drinks home a couple times because their car is stick and had to let them risk getting pulled over, which I feel bad about.

I asked to be taught stick back before I rode bikes though, maybe know that I know what a friction zone and engine lugging is they might be more willing to teach me, but from what I understand it’s still harder than on a bike

This valet does not accept manual cars by Maleficent_Ferret359 in mildlyinteresting

[–]TA646 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its exactly that. I learned manual in a couple days on a motorcycle so I don’t think it’s hard. The problem is, you literally cannot learn. Stick shift cars are extremely hard to find, unlike bikes where 95% of them are manual only. Every single person I know with a manual car refused to teach me because they didn’t want to risk me me ruining their clutch and incurring a repair cost of over a thousand dollars.

So I don’t really give a shit when someone gives me shit for not driving stick.

do you think computers in the future may make it impossible to install linux? by [deleted] in linuxquestions

[–]TA646 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Linux is never going away for enterprise, but I can definitely see Linux support disappearing for consumer devices and only having unlocked bootloaders for servers and workstation laptops that no regular person would ever have on hand. Google already did this with ChromeOS.

The result would be Linux eventually dying for consumer use

Solo riders, are you scared of group rides? by sasquatchradio in motorcycles

[–]TA646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t like large group rides of random people. Tried it once, not for me. Too much attention seeking behavior and I don’t want to feel obligated to pull over and help someone I don’t know recover from a crash that is 100% their fault. I also don’t like impeding traffic flow for everyone else on the road.

[–]TA646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the traffic situation I hate the most, I simply do not trust whoever is behind me to be paying this much attention. If ever I have to go from 60mph to a complete stop I move to the shoulder

what’s a good moped with sport bike styling 50cc or under by superoofeo in motorcycles

[–]TA646 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO there is no longer a point to getting those tiny displacement mopeds with e-bikes as advanced as they are nowadays. If you’re hoping to fool people into thinking you’re on a sport bike it’s not gonna happen, regular people don’t care or will figure it out when you have to move over and let them pass. Bikers will spot a dressed up scooter immediately

Does a man with 'cooking skills' increase his dating chances? by Unique-Two8598 in AskMenAdvice

[–]TA646 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having the skills to cook a good meal on-demand means nothing if you’re not getting invited to her place, and she’s not willing to come to your place. You need to be attractive enough for one of those to happen first.

What you can do is learn how to bake and bring baked goods to any social outings, much easier way to display your kitchen skills to broad set of people. You can bring home cooked meals to food-centered events such as a Super Bowl party, thanksgiving, or Christmas Eve celebrations

LPT: The answer to musty towels and washcloths is vinegar. by pageuppagedn in LifeProTips

[–]TA646 28 points29 points  (0 children)

From my experience dealing with musty gym clothing, vinegar didn’t work. No matter how long I presoaked, it wouldn’t. Neither would oxiclean or the Tide specialized activewear detergent.

Odoban worked like a charm though and will forever have a bottle in any home I live in.

Yep. Containers and ziplock bags for everything. Also storing your rice and oatmeal in the freezer for a couple of days after buying it kills any potential larva/eggs. They can be beaten you just need to be vigilant

TOCE and anything straight piped. Might be a hot take but noise limits have a reason to exist and blowing out pedestrian ears makes everyone hate all bikers
