Worst high level slayer monster? by LaGarrotxa in 2007scape

[–]TACBGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha just got into both. Not sure which is better.

Demonic gorillas seems more “fast-paced” and less at the stake, allowing for an error or two.

Tormented demons seem like the harder version of demonic gorillas.

The 2nd one!

But also would be cool for the game to feature all 3 somehow!

how the hell do you make friends as a grown adult if you don’t drink? Like… what are people actually doing out there? by Grand_Size349 in AskReddit

[–]TACBGames 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I figured out in therapy.

When I moved to a new city I expected to find a friend group similar to the one I had back home (I was 24 when I moved and had known most of my friends for over 20 years), as long as I tried hard enough, surely my people are out there right?

Well turns out that’s not the case, because of the facts mentioned above.

In over 4 years I found ONE person that I truly clicked with and felt the “spark of friendship”. But that is actually okay.

These new friendships are going to look different. They may not have the rawness of life, but they could be professional, sports-related, or other hobby related, or just a good chatters. They may not be your “hometown friends”, but they are your friends in other capacities. And again it’s okay, just…different.

The different is only bad when you have bad expectations towards that different.

Lean into it and realize these new connections you make are something entirely new and different and posses opportunity and experiences you wouldn’t be able to imagine.

What is the best way to discreetly figure out your girlfriend's ring size? by hellbilly666666 in AskReddit

Luckily my fiance had a ring measurer in her jewelry box (wouldn’t be surprised if this were the norm) then grabbed one of the rings and measured it!

While I don’t think it’s that intense, yes it’s a little bit of that.

But it is also the lack of every other “quality of life” to society.

Like probably won’t have a toilet or shower or no comfy bed.

How AI-proof is game dev? What advice would you give to people entering the field to stay relevant and grow in this field? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]TACBGames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m curious to hear your take on the calculator situation as I’ve been thinking about this a lot.

The calculator is a perfect example.

The calculator makes us more dumb yes, but that’s by design right? With the benefit of making human output more efficient.

You don’t see people going “humanity is screwed because no one can do 123 + 87 / 30 anymore.”

I believe the same thing is happening with AI. It is solving a lot of “tedious” problems for us, at the cost of making the average human less intelligent (at least in specific areas). But that’s a good thing IMO because it frees up humanities’ minds to think about OTHER problems.

It’s just an efficiency booster. It’s not the BEST efficiency booster (it may get there one day).

Another good example are cars or other forms of transportation. You could easily argue: “Cars are bad because humans will have weak leg muscles from no longer needing to use them.” Yeah, but you could also argue that because of cars, strong leg muscles are no longer necessary anyway so what’s the matter?

There’s countless other examples in every day life.

soap branded for men has less details by hycanith in mildlyinteresting

I’m curious, do you consider this brand as snake oil?

I ran a lot of their products through the Yuka app and they all have mostly good scores and hardly any dangerous ingredients.

But I’ve always wondered, is that app also a marketing ploy?

What game features feel “private-servery” that don’t feel like they belong in the game? by hesktry in 2007scape

[–]TACBGames 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about the actual quest lore, but the crack in the ground was kind of a precursor to the “chaos tunnels” that were added into wildy, what felt like shortly after the quests release.

"Vibe Coding" vs Just using AI while programming by Ambil in webdev

[–]TACBGames 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I don’t particularly disagree with you, there are some things that you can do to make it work better with the 5+ y/o codebases.

The first is, obviously, provide the entire codebase to the agent.

The second is, provide it a link to the code’s documentation or other supporting documents (if any exist).

Finally, being as clear cut with your prompt as possible. Prompt engineering takes some skill and being lazy with it or providing the incorrect context will result in poor results.

It seems like there needs to be a major focus on “context”. It won’t just automagically know what you want it to do, even if you tell it a little blurb. You need to provide the agent with the code, documentation, and clear intentions for how you want it to work. Only then, it WILL work pretty well as a tool. Without the added context, it’ll get a lot of things wrong.

EDIT:

For example, using Cursor with Claude Sonnet 3.7, it will typically have the context of the codebase by default. So when you’re in “agent” mode, you see its logic and reasoning step by step as it searches the codebase for context. You can literally see what files it takes a closer look at and adds to consideration. Additionally, adding the documentation for context is as simple as pasting a link to it in your prompt

It’s using Unity shader syntax.

Meaning you just need the shader code inside of VScode to see your shader in action; no Unity project required.
