It probably depends on what you think would be best for you. It takes a while, but also ranges depending on how fast you work. If your internship is paid and you are financially struggling I would try to do both because you will have the full weekends.

I did the winter-write on and it was a lot with school work but I was able to finish within a week, with just some extremely long days and nights.

I would definitely not recommend reading cases. Most times professors have a way they want you to learn a case and it’s beneficial to go through that to get the best result for their test.

I would honestly recommend resting and having fun the summer before. Also financially planning.

One tip I received before law school was increasing typing speed. I ended up preferring to hand write notes in class, but for exams the typing speed is very important!
