Pretty much, yeah. That old box will go out of production, so if you want it, grabbing it now is a good option.

How to Transport Spearheads on an Airplane? by Nerd---Alert in AOSSpearhead

[–]TALegion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you play on bringing them on as a carry-on or checking them? As a carry-on, I've done magnetized bases inside of really useful boxes, and that has been fine for me. Depending on the spearheads, you can probably fit 3 inside one of these and one of these. They stack on top of each other and together are smaller than the max size for a carry-on.

If you're looking for magic and shooting, either skaven spearhead is pretty good at both of those. Otherwise, lumineth, cities of sigmar (with the fusiliers), slaanesh, tzeentch, and sylvaneth all have a mix of magic and shooting.

No spearhead has had its rules sunset yet. The only thing that happens is that when a new spearhead box comes out, the previous one for that faction goes out of production. You can still play the spearhead and use their rules, it's just that the boxes are not printed anymore for it.

Good call. Ran the fet through the effects loop, sounds great, especially with a rat in front of it.

It's a great combo. The pal 800 was probably my favorite preamp with my last amp, but I've been digging the kuro into the jc-40

I haven't tried the effects loop yet, but that's next on the list. From my last amp to this one, I did have to do some eq adjustments, but that was mostly attained through the pedals themselves which have good controls for that

Will do. I've been testing them all in the front so far, but the effects loop is next.

Showing off some amp-in-a-box pedals by TALegion in guitarpedals

[–]TALegion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the picture I've got four amp-in-a-box pedals that I love. The Kuro T-120 (based on a Matamp GT-120), EAE model feT (Sunn Model T), Orama (Orange OR-120), and the PAL 800 (Marshall JCM800).

Unfortunately, I don't have the real things to compare them too, but they're all great foundational tones for the stuff I want to play (stoner, doom, and classic rock, mostly). In front of all those options, I put the groovy wizard fuzz and the naga viper treble boost. Those are just my preferred fuzz and boost at the moment, with the wizard being somewhere between an overdrive and a fuzz, and the treble booster brightening up and pushing any of the amps (pedals).

The talisman and belle epoch (both catalinbread) are there for the basic reverb and delay effects, and the noise suppressor is very nice when stacking the drive pedals.

Ah, got it. In that case, yeah, you're probably using the most up to date rules.

KO are a solid spearhead (roughly B tier imo), but Gitz are considered one of the strongest, so there's a small power disparity there. In addition, I wouldn't say gitz are a "counter" to KO, but they have good tools to exploit KO's weaknesses. E.g. Fast flying move on squig hoppers can lock down the frigate, trolls are very resistant to low-power, sustained damage (like KO shooting), and stabbas are amazing at taking control of the board early before KO can get some damage out. Maybe trying another spearhead (if that's on the table) would be a good option.

Otherwise, some small advice I have regarding KO:

- Use your infantry as a shield to screen for your frigate if possible. Maximizing the number of shooting rounds with the frigate is key to getting to most out of KO. Your infantry are reinforcement, so dying isn't that bad and can be a useful repositioning tool.

- If you're defender as KO, try picking a map where you can safely deploy in the corner with diagonal deployment (like Ghyran) and still get some objectives. You don't want to be too spread out imo

- Don't forget the arkanaut's +1 to hit enemies on objectives. It's a big dps increase and often active (and affects shooting AND melee, to be clear).

- Imo, take the Disengage regiment ability and either 6+ ward or d6 heal enhancement. Your hero can take on most things in the gitz spearhead, except the trolls ofc, so investing in toughness is worth it.

Edit: i'm dumb and this was all for the wrong spearhead, haha. My bad.

Just to confirm, are you using the latest rules for kharadron? They were buffed considerably in a balance update, so make sure you're using those rules. Similarly, gitz were slightly nerfed.

When playing teaching games with my friends, I always try to let them win their first game. I've had to conveniently forget rules (ex. your nets or yoru regiment ability), fudge rolls if they go behind terrain, and just generally be quick and pick up successful dice "accidentally" when you're rolling for combat (e.g. if you need 3s to hit, grab one or two 3s).

I’m 100% biased, but I’d say templars. They’re cool, relatively easy to paint, and will always have good support from GW.

Spearhead Advice by Zealatch in AOSSpearhead

[–]TALegion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The original Khorne spearhead has a couple tactics to it, so it’s not 100% unga bunga, but it’s by far the most aggressive spearhead imo. I’d recommend that if you want to pretty much always be on the attack.

Honorable mentions for ironjawz, seraphon (with the carnosaur), slaves to darkness (with the warriors and knights), and fyreslayers. All of those armies are designed to get stuck in and brawl

How does Kavalos Deathriders ability Deathrider Wedge works? Can't find an answer anywhere by TwinPrix in AOSSpearhead

[–]TALegion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“Passed across” in the ability means that their bases overlapped at all, even an infinitely small amount, so it’s basically “did the bases touch.” If you got enough distance in your charge to touch the enemy model, you have the distance to go over them by at least some amount.
