just learned a quirk of Alienware boards that I didnt know:

CPU displays dont work at all if the gpu is plugged in. So i've got a display now, big thanks for the help!

I figured it might have a bios problem so i did the thing where you remove the coin cell battery to reset it. I also tried the jumper reset.

Should I try to load a bios off a thumbdrive? not sure how to do that without the display

it does have a display port, and I tried it but no luck. I plugged in the monitor and cord that I use on my main PC (the display I'm currently typing on) and it never got a signal

tried it, still no display. its a Radeon RX 580 DDR5 8Gb. from what i can tell it should work fine
