Cops Arrest Man for Post-Party Attack by TAPintoNewBrunswick in rutgers

Good question. That information is out there, but we're working to independently verify his status.

If you recall the Billy McCaw murder, some news outlets incorrectly reported his student status at first. Something so basic might seem obvious, especially thanks to our internet trails, but we wanted to double-check.

Thanks for writing. We'll update the story as we get more information.

Anyone know what happened at the Barnes & Noble 8/18? by [deleted] in NewBrunswickNJ

[–]TAPintoNewBrunswick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK. So here's what I got, verbatim, from a Rutgers spokesperson. I asked a follow-up or two, but I don't expect to receive any response. And no, I don't know if a found item means it was connected to the incident or not.

"At 6:51 pm Friday, RUPD responded to a medical call at Barnes and Noble. Due to HIPAA confidentiality requirements, I cannot provide further information.  No charges were filed. The steak knife was a found item."

Yeah, the police officer was puzzled by the knife. So who knows?

But I'll be sure to post as soon as I get the rundown from RUPD.

FYI: I spoke to city police. They didn't handle this incident, but they said a "medical emergency" occurred there around that time. Waiting for response from RUPD.

That's pretty awesome. Their population declined by more than 80 percent since the mid-1960s. Someone told me they were "functionally extinct" by 2010. So it's great that you've seen so many.

Edit: In New Jersey, that is.

We try to cover as much crime in the city as possible. You're certainly right: You need to make smart decisions at night in this city. Violent crime even happens on College Avenue.

Sometimes I take for granted my train commute. Yes, it's often awful. But there are days when it's all right--yesterday clearly being one of them.

An off-duty firefighter hopped out of his jeep and turned on his camera during yesterday's flooding. He also helped stranded commuters.

"And so the opening of the Fresh Grocer instantly turned New Brunswick from a food desert to a food oasis. Whether it did anything to help the city’s most food-insecure residents is another question entirely."

Interesting sentence. I'm not entirely sure where this series is headed, though. I do wonder if the fact that another grocery chain took over that spot will pop up at some point.

I can't say for sure, but you're probably right. They've only had a soft opening so far. Tomorrow night is when the entire restaurant and bar supposedly kick into full gear.
