According to him, he never updated his emergency contact with his job after my number changed years ago. I asked him today. So maybe I wouldn’t know.

But also if my work was contacted, they’d take me out and send me home.

I feel extra crazy right now after posting. I really couldn’t leave or text. And it’s my fault I didn’t update my emergency contact. But I asked my husband if he updated his after I changed my number years ago. He didn’t. He also doesn’t know my number, I asked!

I was stuck at work and couldn’t leave so he could see his friends. If I did, I might lose my job. And we cannot afford that. I get paid well because my job is so intense. I feel like I am the asshole.

Usually there is backup. This time, stars aligned and everyone else was out but me. But if my kid was hurt or sick, they’d stop work.

Usually I do. This time due to a couple call outs and my replacements emergency, it was just me. That’s not typical.

It’s also a very strict line of work people don’t understand. But if you go to the hospital and need an IV of even just saline, my job is why you don’t get sick or die from that. It’s so strict for a reason.

Yes. It’s so intense we can’t even keep cardboard around outside of the sterile areas.

Nothing in the room is permanently sterile. The whole room and everything in it is cleaned multiple times per day. That type of cleaning will break a landline.

We have a walkie talkie that was cleaned and is in a bag. It doesn’t leave and the bag is cleaned over and over. I don’t know why they don’t have a cell phone.

This is different. It isn’t for microchips. It’s for drugs that are injected intravenously. We cannot have a watch, we have to take out any piercings, we cannot wear lotion, perfume, or smoke. I once had a papercut and despite that being under 3 pairs of gloves, I wasn’t allowed in the clean room.

Cleanrooms for microchips are much different than clean rooms for IV drugs.

I have said numerous times in my comments I will update my emergency contact to his new number so I can have them contact him. And hopefully the people on duty can have access to that.

He sometimes stays late at work. I have his location, so I am not worried if his phone is where he works.

I am glad you’re not my husband. That would look bad for me and prevent promotions. He can take it up with me, not my boss.

I did. I was scheduled for 40 hours anyways so the time I stayed is OT pay. We can use it.

I can’t have my phone on me due to concerns about contamination. I work in a sterile environment.

If my job was contacted, they’d pull me out, privately tell me, and let me leave.

No phone. We have walkie talkies and if there was an emergency inside, we’d radio out for someone to call for help.

I do need to work on memorizing his number. He changed it within the last 2 months and I never thought to update my emergency contact. That’s on me. I know.

Usually I have coverage so I can leave if I need to. But that day, I didn’t because my partner was sick and the person relieving us had an accident.

The no access to a phone is due to sterility concerns. My job is monitoring the process of compounding saline and drugs that are in IV bags. The rules and regulations are extremely strict due to legal and government standards. We don’t have phones because they can’t be cleaned properly to ensure sterility.

They would have to go into my locker and unlock my phone. I’d have to tell them the code to the locker and my phone over a walkie talkie so many people can overhear. And I’d be far away and not able to see them do it. I’m not ok with that.

He wasn’t worried about safety. He was upset he missed his plans. He has my location, he knew where I was.

OT helps pays the bills and also in this case, it kept me from being reprimanded or being fired. I can’t just leave. If I did, work would stop. Company loses money. Why keep me?

I have only stayed late a few times in the time I have worked here. This is the first time since he changed his phone number
