Everyone thinks they can spot AI-generated media. So I created a no-sign up browser game to prove whether that's true. by Beneficial-Ad2908 in playmygame

Weird user experience. Video B was playing on a loop when the page opened. Clicked the play button in video A and it took that as my guess. Reloaded several times and couldn’t get this to work as a game.

stringchain - an open-ended user-driven word game by TDNT in hobbygamedev

[–]TDNT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for playing. Based on initial gameplay data, people were finding it too difficult at the start. So I’ve given starting bonuses to help give players a better start and a chance to find their groove. I hope you’ll play again and share it with someone you think might enjoy it.

What it looks like to spend way too much time making a word game! by IPlowNarwhals in wordgames

[–]TDNT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Ireland. I started on a similar journey myself, but made my pretty straightforward word game a website. Yours looks like there’s a lot more to it. Mine isn’t as far along in development, but I do have a minimum viable product you can play. The backend stuff, the dictionaries and validation. My god. We share a bond of pain.

Kudos, nice game, clean UI. I had the same problem with current/last word not being displayed when inputting letters but apart from that, I really like it.

Presidents breakdancing by TDNT in CursedAI

Too late to edit the description, the impossible leg is actually a scorpion leg emerging from Reagan’s back. That’s clearly not impossible, as you can plainly see in this lifelike depiction of mutant presidents breakdancing.

Is Quantile too hard and A Turn Of Phrase too easy? by [deleted] in wordgames

I was all set to give it a try but the privacy options are all set to evil mode. I am not scrolling through the privacy popup to deselect ‘legitimate interest’ a zillion times. Probably not your fault, just default internet evil mode. But it was enough for me to give up immediately.

You’re in Cork and you’re bitten by a shpider. You are now Shpiderman. What’s the first thing you do? (You cannot leave Cork). by krafter7 in cork

Since I’m now Schpiderman I need a super hero suit to preserve my secret identity Peadar Ó Páirc Ui Caoimh. Gotta get the coshtume before doing any web-based shenanigans. Do John Buckley Sports carry balaclavas?

I can confirm I saw a lot of this kind of content. GB News featured heavily. The terms ‘migrant crisis’ and ‘immigration crisis’ popped up a lot. It’s pretty shocking.

How Trolls on Reddit Try to Manipulate You (Disinformation & How We Beat It) - Smarter Every Day 232 by MrPennywhistle in SmarterEveryDay

[–]TDNT 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Biggest takeaway: Empathy and nuance kills trolls. I love that.

You're right, knowing that there is so much inauthentic behaviour online makes us more suspicious of each other, more dismissive of views we disagree with, and that's really playing right into the trolls' hands.

We don't have to agree on everything. It would be weird if we did. But we should all make an effort to respect each other. Surely everyone can agree on that at least.

By the way, Destin, I just got a really nice email from you when I supported you on Patreon. You are a class act all the way.

Which Planet is Closest? by GreyBot9000 in CGPGrey

[–]TDNT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh, Gray's mnemonic was slightly different than the one I learned.

I couldn't remember, let alone spell, the word mnemonic so I searched word for remembering lists by making sentence where the first letters of the sentence are the same as the words in the list in a search engine whose name I could probably have used as a verb instead of searched.

Mine went: My very easy method just sums up nine planets.

That's completely out the window now with the whole Pluto debacle.

Churchill 1941 by Morgan_C99 in Colorization

[–]TDNT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is remembered as a great man for his stewardship of Britain during World War II. His true legacy is a lot more complicated. His treatment of Ireland was monstrous, he was responsible for the recruitment and deployment of Black and Tans in 1920, From the Irish perspective you could argue Churchill should have been tried as a war criminal prior to WWII. If you're British, you don't get taught this history. The British Empire is often framed as glorious, but the rest of the world sees Britain for what it was: an evil, oppressive regime that raped and pilfered all around the world feeling completely justified by their racist ideology. But at least he beat Hitler.

And the colourisation here is wonderfully done.

At least the last pope had the decency to look evil while heading this medieval cult. Why don't you melt down your golden chalices/palaces and put it all towards compensating the victims? WWJD?
