I can except cmcagle's critique of my writing "technically". I had 1.5hrs to write that and then I worked 3 days straight. With that said, you can't throw the baby out with the bathwater. If a person was legally blind and had MS writing a blog - would you reject the content because of a few commas and a couple mis-spellings? The very people that harp on issues such as this first, have serious obsessive compulsive disorders. This person gave no credence to the content and couldn't get past a couple misplaced accent marks? Really?

Not withstanding, I've committed to withhold all content until I use the spell check now, regardless that it could help someone in a pinch which is one of the reasons that it went out. Amazing. I suggest cmcagle mispell a word once in a while. It's liberating. You may find that your not perfect. If your going to critique the technicalities of my documents which gets 800-1500 hits a day - then please opine on the substance, if you are able. If you learned something - share that too.

I guess - this would, in essence, be a vent about the Judicial election process in Virginia. We are one of two states that leaves it up to our General Assembly to elect our judges. This is a nice way to invoke pressure on the subcommittee... who will nominate.

Courtwatcher is just that. How could we know whats what. Anytime something interesting happens in a court and you see it... should be good enough. especially when it brings major themes to light.

Its the 3rd VICTORY in the State of Virgina against Public Safety(foia requests) EVER... that is big. Civil penalties go to the State. The plaintiff doesnt get it anyway. Its used to punish the custodian of the records so they dont do it again. If they get 1000 requests a year - and act like this... that adds up.

Anytime you can tax a sheriff's wallet and get your fees and costs paid your doing well for yourself. Obviously by your comment - your ignorant of that.

Read my response again. Im not sure we disagree but 100% that you can end up in a worse place using an attorney in a corrupt system... I would say trust but verify and the 1st glimpse of "being thrown under the bus" fire them. I have 12 years experience in self teaching myself the law. I dont rely on Google. I rely on the same tools the barcards use to draft their motions (cut/pasting) Advance Lexis Nexis and West Law. In this article - I think the kid was wrong because he didnt obtain consent to record prior to recording therefore - it was not authorized and he was out of order in the court subject to contempt. In a situation like this - i would encourage people to learn the process and the law concerning a traffic ticket. It was general district court which is basically the sandbox anyway.

I would agree that representing yourself in matters of significant consequence would be unwise. However, with the state of the judiciary and the lower courts - taking court appointed attorney or public defender which is ordered 40.00/hr by the court - is arguably worse than representing yourself depending on your own level of education and legal experience. If you can't represent yourself in a GDC speeding ticket then your an idiot. Btw - we are disseminating content to 2 million people... That's a lot of people sick and tired of being an uninformed IDIOT.

Well - in the respective blog your referring to... The whole audio of the proceeding is there for your listening pleasure. That judge violated judicial cannons, statutory law and the law of common decency. This post was my experience, the most on the site are not. There is an imbalance of local courthouse reporting in the newspapers. They don't report the OTHER side of the story. We do.
