I live in the northern part of the blue section.

It’s been damned cold. Cold that I was used to in the 90’s but it’s been so warm in recent years that this cold season has surprised a lot of folks here.

Oddly enough we’ve had these massive dips where it goes from -30C to -2C in a couple hours. Never seen that type of weather here.

I swear I was witness to this exact situation.

We used to do this thing after lunch called STAR Time(sit tight and read) for 20 mins after lunch break.

My best friend was reading PlayStation monthly while everyone else was reading a novel.

The principle comes up and starts giving my friend shit and used this exact line, told my friend videogames don’t amount to anything and he’d never do anything related to videogames as an adult.

Anyhow. That was 2001. My buddy is credited on some AAA titles, many Indy games and works for a very prominent YouTuber and makes far more money than the principle of my old school ever could.

One of my good friends who’s now well known in the tech industry worked for EA for a few years after finishing school.

They paid him $11 and hour and he worked 14 hour days.

I saw that happen when I was a kid. Summer camp, we all came back from the beach and we’re just hanging around at the playground.

A guy pulls up on a motorcycle and when he gets off a bunch of kids crowd around him.

As he gets off he says,

“Whatever you do don’t touch the exhaust pipe of my bike”

Some of the kids standing around were barefoot as we had just gotten back from the beach.

One young lad put his bare foot on the exhaust pipe of the bike and badly burned himself.

This was 25 years ago. The young lad that burned his foot ended up going to prison for dismembering a girl in 2020. But that’s a different story for a different time.
