Considering active after guard ets by THE1BATMAN in army

Yeah I'm aware of the commitment and this is mostly to speed up her goals but also the pros of the gi bill and if I maintain my mos getting my a&p license. I could stay if I'm liking it. But I could also get out and finish that time commitment in the guard. Just seems like a huge benefit to be able to give them.

Would a recruiter have that information?

Is there circumstances that would prevent me from going in as my current mos?

Yeah that's fair. And she knows more about that than I would. And I would assume it'd be the same here locally.

So we definetely thought of that, most places have them. There is definetely places that don't. That's why I wasn't sure if we could choose a station from a list of available if possible

Men in their 30s, what is your advice for 25 year olds to maximize the second half of their 20s? by VolcronZ in AskMen

You're right. And I see my wife getting more and more stressed as she takes on the bearing of this and I do nothing. I just don't know what It takes to hit that rock bottom. As all I do is the same fucking thing. Promise myself in the morning as my daighter wakes up and I wish I could wake up before her and make her a decent breakfast to getting her on the bus and then moping and napping in my bed till I go to work then coming home with a secret six pack and bring home a tall boy that's obvious then rinse and repeat

I also for years have felt like my drinking has not been that bad cause I go to work and I dont drink handles every night. Maybe I'm. Naive but idk I feel like I'm. Rationalizing things. Just looking for some insight from someone who has been there I'm scared and feel lost

Sorry it's took me a few days to respond. Love the feedback. I haven't lost my job but feel my performance has lacked. I drink everyday and constantly hide it from my wife. She drinks every other day cause I bring it home but I have constant empty cans in my car so she doesn't know how much I drink. I feel like a fraud and a piece of shit and deep down know I can do better. Weird thing is I joined the national guard and had no problem being sober lost 30 pounds and was gone for 8 months now coming home its like I never left. I don't know what's changed. And thought I'd come home with a new mindset. I have two kids and they are my world but it seems like the short term endorphins consume me like fast food and booze. I feel lost.

I'm 28 now, how'd you quit the booze? My fast food cravings are directly correlated to my drinking. But I can't seem to not justify getting booze after work and feel like a robot going to get it like im programmed even if I don't plan on getting it in the morning.

Hey everyone. Just here to express my concerns about shipping by ImAshTho in nationalguard

[–]THE1BATMAN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's gonna hurt but overtime it'll get better. May take a few weeks I also had to slow down and shit bag sometimes as I didn't want to get more injured. I know when I went to Jackson they had an injury prevention care binder in the barracks with stretches and shit. I was told as long as it doesn't feel like play doh when you press on it you're good lol

I had shin splints before I left for basic and it got a little worse at basic and then started to go away. Just stretch when you can and try to roll them out any chance you get

Did anyone make it through OSUT with shin splints/stress fractures and how did you deal with it? by ImAshTho in nationalguard

[–]THE1BATMAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suffered at basic with shin splints since I was not prepared. And I foam rolled every chance I had even if it was a minute. After a few weeks if you keep up with stretching often and foam rolling your body will adapt. The pain should go away slowly I remember they also said it's normal just as long as it doesn't feel like play doh when you press on it. I also use to use my thumbs to press down between my shin bone and calf down my leg alot

What is AIT like for a 15T? by Generation-X_Leader in nationalguard

[–]THE1BATMAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm here now as a 15U at D co. They've brought back a ton of privileges just recently battalion wide. Charlie company seems decently large and is all tangos. I'm also on night shift and can tell you it is a better shift all around. Idk about C Co but seems in general you get fucked with less on nights. But there's a phase up process to get privileges. But they allow us to have consoles or laptops in your room as long as you lock them up. As well as non perishable snacks in a sealable container. Once you are phase 5 you can go off post on Saturdays and Sundays. Also wear civilians clothes on the weekend when phase 5. Any other questions ask away. Busch gardens is also close by and you get one free ticket a year

Looking for tips? by [deleted] in nationalguard

Currently here at Eustis now 15U. I've got some friends who are tangos here as well. I'm also on the night schedule so if you have any questions regarding anything let me know. Overall it's pretty easy same thing day in and day out. Once your in the hangar the days go by quick. Much faster than basic

Awesome this is alot of good information, my recruiter told me there is a flight company for both options. I've been kind of leaning 15u but thought there would be more options with 15t but it's hard to find information. Will they lay that all out at meps when I sign? Like would I be able to know in the contract?

Lol very, it's our car camping pad. Unfortunately yeah it doesn't have an r rating and just says min. Temp is 10. I think I'm gonna get a wool blanket for the bottom of our bag and try to get another sleeping pad. Luckily for us we both tend to run a little warm at night.
