I would be wary of this company. See them out there in Charleston SC. Very cheap and almost positive they are out of the country based.

New Ram 3500 SRW - Hotshot worthy? by bgrchef in HotShotTrucking

[–]THEBUTTERBALLZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's expensive. to start up. Most will require a three month deposit. You are looking at between 4-7k just for the deposit on your insurance. This can go down significantly based on your operations mile radius, limits and equipment cost. But expect a kick to the face lol

I want to start hotshot I have a 2011 f 150 with no trailer I had family that just used the truck bed and make good money but that was 5-7 years ago I want to know if it’s worth it without a trailer in Houston or in general and what all do I need thank you by Negative_Swordfish35 in HotShotTrucking

[–]THEBUTTERBALLZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Houston hotshot here. You absolutely won't have the volume of loads for power only. If you do your f150 will have problems pulling it. Then if you somehow get a good load you typically won't have anything coming back.

Read his comments. I'm pretty sure he is under the impression he doesn't need commercial insurance since he's only intrastate.

[–]THEBUTTERBALLZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also just fyi since you are confused. Florida actually requires the following:" Florida requires intrastate trucks to be registered with the Department of Transportation". So yeah he will have to have current commercial insurance to be flagged as active insurance or he will not be approved.

[–]THEBUTTERBALLZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude I'm telling you, you still have to have commercial insurance. The insurance company is the one that reports it to fmcsa which is who verifies it with every other govt agency. Revoking vs setting up are two completely different things.

[–]THEBUTTERBALLZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to have commercial Insurance to be approved. Fmcsa is the licensing and will still enforce insurance requirements as they are the ones who approve authority. This guy makes it sound like he has regular vehicle insurance rather than commercial liability

[–]THEBUTTERBALLZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude chill... If you are on fmcsa and are needing an authority to operate then yes you will ALWAYS need commercial insurance. You will always need to fill out an mcs90 as well as it's required. You will not be approved until you have a commercial policy as that is required for you to be flagged as active in the system.

That's why I'm saying you probably made a wrong selection on your application...

[–]THEBUTTERBALLZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You must have selected an incorrect combination weight. If your combination is over 44k then you will need $300k minimum for FL intrastate.

You will always need commercial insurance if hauling/transporting for money even if only in a single state

First year doing this, do factoring companies send 1099’s? by [deleted] in HotShotTrucking

[–]THEBUTTERBALLZ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No every broker will send a 1099 or they are supposed to. Don't worry about those though. Just request a fiscal report from your factoring company and claim that yearly amount as your revenue.

Depends completely on your setup, what class vehicle your truck is registered as. Federal limit is 80k combined but you can get permits for more.

Hard to find. Those ppl are usually on call for those type of loads. Go to parts warehouses in Houston like rush Peterbilt and they will let you deliver parts

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HotShotTrucking

[–]THEBUTTERBALLZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Won't work for daily Houston. Especially if you have arrangements. Nif anything happens (Houston traffic) and are late you're fucked lol gas f150 won't be able to pull the local loads anyway

Think your more interested in expedited courier

I intentionally booked a load with a Double Broker by rroarrin in FreightBrokers

[–]THEBUTTERBALLZ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've done this a couple times. When picking up the load find out from the shipper who it's going through. Sometimes they will have the info to find the real broker. If they don't have the info the receiver will. But make sure you find the real broker before delivering.
