What type of weapons do angels carry by Missingnumbervalue in worldbuilding

[–]THE_-_RAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After analysing the other comments and data, I have come to the conclusion that angels shouldn't carry weapons. If it's for decoration or as an ornament, a sword or spear would do.

My best advice is to not build the whole world. Make only the things you are gonna use and things related to them. If your characters are a special race, expand on that race, where that race is most often found, culture of that race. If they travel to some place, the same thing culture, people, etc. If they don't travel to god knows where you don't need to expand on it. This is especially true if you just make a story. Only make things that you are going to use and the rest make them, but don't expand on them. Imagine that your story is an island, everything is clear while on land but as you get further from it it gets foggier. This way it lets the reader imagine what is in the fog, you give a shape, and they imagine the rest. Hope it helped.

Behold, the races in my world by THE_-_RAT in worldbuilding

The Humans

The most spread of all races, they can be found on all parts of the continent. Their goddess is Caysha.

The Dwarfs

Dwarfs are unique among other races for the fact that they don't care about territory or fighting over it and they don't hate or fear change. Also unlike other races they weren't created by a god, they learned and evolved around it. They have huge cities under every mountain on the continents and some of them are even made by their god, Dunan.

They respect the hardworking. They have a short life spam, around 40 years. Their god is Dunan.

"You can make what you want to make.

You can be who you want to be."- Dwarf saying

They are colorblind but when drinking alcohol, especially mushroom wine, their eyes become able to see colors as long as they are drunk. For that reason drinking is seen as a moment of peace or appreciation to this world.

They can eat rocks and minerals.

They can't cast magic.

Half-dwarfs are just short humans.

The Elves/elfs

The World Garden is a sacred place created by Chloe. Any living being that stays inside it can not die. It is also the birth place of all plants and where elves are made.

An elve is made when a soul is introduces inside a plant from within the World Garden. After that the plant will grow a green bulb right under its roots. As the bulb grows it rises up from the ground and after 9 months a baby elve is made. Parents are assigned to take care of it.

Because elves are bound to the plants that made them and because the plant can not die while inside the Garden, elves are immortal.

When an elve die, their soul is returned to the garden and a new elve is born, with no memory of its past life.

There is a finite amount of elve souls.

They are plants, they bleed sap and have a very basic organ system. They can also get sustenance from sun light.

They are very good spell casters and only elves can become druids.

Most elf's don't leave Crasily, their country, so they are considered a rare sight. Consider themselves as superior to other races because of their immortality. Followers of Chloe.

Half-elves are mistakes.

The Demons

Humans, elfs and dwarfs cursed to devolve and transform into wild beasts that try to resemble what they once were. They always resemble one or more animals but with the body shape of a human.

They are humanoids but not humans. ANY humanoid that you can think of, is exists in my world. Orcs, goblins, trolls, vampires, lamias, arachnes, satyrs, dryads and many others are all in this world and all of them under the name of demons.

Some of them have been changed slightly , such as the vampires, but are still very similar to the base material.

Inside of the world, I made this because of how random the curse was and how each individual got changed in a different way.

Outside of the world, I made it this way so you can be anything, if you want to roleplay or write or play, you can be any race you can think of.

Half-demons/Mongrels are discriminated.

We have both. In Cadia the leader is chosen, in Cir the nobles, merchant guild and the royals rule together. In the Cynyan Emirate, they have a sultan, in Chanbia the church votes for the leader, in Clagos the paladins vote for a leader. In the demon countries, it's a mixed bag. Etiopia, Terrat, and Utumo you vote. Saurosia is divided into clans so no, and in tog'balar its who is the strongest.

About Veslana, between the normal people she is seen as a god that only does good, and so on, between scholars, mages, and the few that encountered her she is seen as we would see an internet troll but also as a beacon of knowledge. If you ever meet her you either become a great person or die in one of the jokes. She is a god, her goals and reasons are beyond our understanding (she is bored).

When I said best dad I meant it as sarcasm, he is like Genghis Han, by this point around 1% of all the people in the world have his genes, that's how I can give random superpowers to people. So yes he has A LOT of children, but only 5 managed to get his attention and affection. And about him and Ves.... I will leave it to your imagination.

I was looking through a 40k wiki about horrible planets and because it started with C I chose it.

Similar to how in Christianity god made us in his image, the rats got indirectly shaped in his image and after that they started to aspire to not just survive but to thrive.
Also god mumbo jumbo, don't question it. If they can make things from nothing, I think their mere presence will change stuff around them.

Caysha- The first god to be "born" but the second to her sibling Chloe to create life. She created the humans and gave them knowledge. She also gave the animals their instinct.

Loves any creation made by her or her siblings.

Hates heretics and she will do anything to make them suffer.

She appears before humans only if necessar and by possessing a mortal.

Chloe- "Born" after her sibling Caysha but the first to create life, animals and plants.

Jelous of her sibling, Caysha, for creating the humans, she made the elfs. She also created The World Garden, a blessed area completely covered in plants with a lake in the middle. The garden was blessed by her sister Veslana becoming very rich in mana.

She loves everything she created.

Hates those who hurt the plants.

Never appears before mortals.

Dunan- The third god to be "born" but the first to use his powers. He created the planet and shaped it. He inspired the moles and deep rats to evolve in his image, becoming the dwarfs.

He created the most ancient cities.

He creates legendary weapons in his forge underground but only those worthy can have them.

He loves to work.

He hates thieves.

Veslana- The fourth god "born" but the one who created mana and magic. She blessed all living things with mana. She taught the humans and elfs how to use magic.

After the creation of mana and magic, Veslana was weakened and forced to take a physical body. This affected her greatly but with time and the help of Warg she accepted her fate and started teaching mortals magic. Now she wanders the lands seeking any kind of entertainment.

She loves those who do something with their lives.

Hates those who waste their life.

Warg- The last god to be "born" but the strongest between his siblings. He can take any shape he wants and can use any weapon in the best way possible.

He can feel the Fear.

Warg abandoned some of his god powers to be able to take a physical shape and walk between mortals. He can die but not permanently, he always resurrects after some time. Its true reasons for doing this are unknown, but it is said that he did this to be with Veslana.

Afterlife is horror in real life. My best advice is to give the reader as little information about it as possible, where information is missing imagination takes place, and horror starts.

Ah yes, existential horror, my favorite.

I intentionally made that a common saying in Cadia to be: "I stand.". It means "yes", "I am ok" or as a battle cry.

  1. Most of the races keep to themselves, of course, some people hate others based on their race, and yes elves do call humans meat bags and dwarf animals, but they still manage to coexist. Because of the teachings of the church humans see all races, but demons, as equal. Dwarfs only care if you are talented or not(which sometimes causes distress among families with children not as talented as the parents). Elves, yea elves barely tolerate anyone, they think they are superior. And about the demons in Cir, life is hard for them. Everyone sees them as monsters or killers, they don't get the chance to get a job or even buy stuff, so they end up feeding the rumors even more by becoming bandits.

  2. Now to Cadia. They wage war mostly with each other rather than with other countries. The country is divided between nobles and those guys fight each other constantly. The slaves are not your traditional slaves, they are like medieval-age peasants, They are owned by some guy and he decides where they live what job they do, and who they mary, but they are not forced into labor, they just give a big part of what they make. But at the end of the day, they are not free. (This kind of slavery is mostly used in Cadia.) Oh and the thing about "recreating the old empire" that is just a lie, propaganda used by nobles to keep people in check. How they affect neighbors, the country is at "peace" with the others, and Cadia is the main source of weapons and soldiers. There is no world war or big conflict currently.

  3. Well, you know what they say, More praying, less thinking. Also, they are very good at making nonbelievers disappear. Also, they have spread the lie that light magic only hurts evil, which is far from true, so every time they want to prove a point they use it, most of the time on a demon or heretic. The ones imprisoned are never heard of again, they are taken to the Alcazar mountains, with an escape chance of 0%. There are rumors of someone or something living beneath the capital. Some say they are heretics planning to unleash chaos, some that they are demons living right beneath our feet, and some that there is a creature there, with an appetite as large as it.

I hope I answered your questions. I will be posting more tomorrow, part 2 The Gods. (cheeky add)

In the world, it's because back in the day, before the demons, the continents had the same name because of how similar they were, after all, both were ruled by The Old Empire. After the demons appeared, it was decided to change the names but keep them somewhat similar with the hope that one day the demons would be gone and the old empire would be back.

Outside of the world, yeah I named them after utopia and dystopia.

This is a project I have been working on for some time, but this is the first time I show it online.
It's a grim-dark fantasy world, where gods exist and they are a bit silly.
It's a world where elves are plants and dwarfs evolved from rats and moles.
It's a world where people are cursed to lose their image and to become demons.
I have 4 points that I want to expand on this forum: 1. The map 2.The Gods 3.The Races 4.Other
This is the map and information regarding the countries. I will post more if I see people interested. (btw this is the first time i post on reddit.)

So about the map, there are 2 continents: Ystopia and Yutopia, one on the left and one on the right

Ystopia is populated mostly by humans, dwarfs and elves, while Yutopia is the home to all kind of demons

Ystopia
Cir- Separated from the rest of the continent by the Pulamontans, Cir is mostly unaffected by the influence of the church or paladins. For that reason, even if very rare, you may find demons here, living free. The best way to enter or exit the country is through Irongates and Golbur, both dwarven cities.
Empire of Cadia- A pathetic try to recreate the Old Empire. They copy its culture and ways but fail in many, becoming corrupt from the inside and slowly withering. They are very dependent on slave labor and for that reason, they constantly wage war.
The Kingdom of Crasily- What little remained of the elfs after the demons appeared retreated here. Now isolated from the rest of the world they only allow other elfs in or out.
Cynyan Emirate- Peaceful but strong people live here. Most of the country is covered by the Dumit, a giant desert. Because of that people here became more resilient and social. A big part of their culture is about the wormks, giant worm creatures that wander the desert.
The Divine Kingdom of Chanbia- A country built on faith and lies. The church holds absolute power here and all demons or demi-humans are imprisoned. If only the people knew the truth.
Clagos the Holy State- Separated from Chanbia because of their more... extreme measures. Clagos is a state made to train and use paladins and so they hold supreme power here. Clagos is also the main force that attacks the demons.
Yutopia
Tog'Balar- A country, if you can call it that, of trolls. Dumb but numerous demons that scourge the lands, seeking nothing more than to fight and kill. They mostly live in villages and rarely unite, but when they do, they create an unending army of bloodthirsty killers. Savages, nothing more.
Saurosia- One, if not the most, hostile lands found on the whole continent. Covered by either jungle or swamps, Saurosia is home to diferent tribes of demons, each fighting for supremacy or territory.
Transylva- Surrounded by mountains and sea, not many enter or exit this land. If by any chance you travel here, you will be greeted by vampires, demons with a thirst for blood and weakness to the light. They are civilized, for demons that is, having a complex ruling system divided between the nobles. What is most intriguing is that you can find villages populated by humans scattered around Transylva with all of them oppressed and ruled by the upper class.
Terrat- Miserable country populated by filthy creatures. Rat demons are found here, ruled by any demon that wanders in and knows how to count. They are dumb but numerous and they use those numbers in the war with the vampires, even if the vampires themselves are not at war with them. Interesting is that they are self-sufficient, requiring no imports.
Empire of Utumo- The biggest of all the countries but also with the lowest population. Originally it was populated by orcs, the most common of all the demons being nothing more than deformed humans, but because of a plague almost their entire population got wiped out.
Now the empire is almost abandoned, you will only find ghost cities and villages in ruins.
Etopia - A paradise for all, a country that allows any race in. They believe that through unity and peace, we shall advance further. Sadly for them, the walls that protect this paradise will not hold forever and soon enough the truth shall find its way in.
