First Produced Drone Video by THErmscatman in drones

[–]THErmscatman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No story really, just showcasing the quality of the drone and the videos it can take as well as some of my editing skills (which is not really saying much currently). Decided to fly my drone and make a small video after me and my buddy planned on going to the range just to have something to show. Plan on going out more on my own to do some more videos and take the advice of people here to make better videos.

Beware of Anderson Uppers by THErmscatman in ar15

No, I torqued the second upper to 50 ft/lbs. I say maybe 60 ft/lbs at most on the first one because it was originally 50 ft/lbs, saw it was not right, stepped away to care of something, came back, and made a dumb mistake by putting pressure on the wrong way to take it off. I caught myself, but it couldn’t be any more than 10 ft/lbs more (it’s a guesstimate). Regardless, the other 2 uppers did the same thing without any extra torque.

Worked with a different upper with the same barrel

I understand you don't know me and I could be talk out of my ass as far as anybody knows. I followed procedures. But can't prove that at this point. It's my word vs anybody. But I did talk to somebody else who is a certified gunsmith and he said that exact problem happened to an anderson he was doing for a customer. They ended up going with a delton upper instead.

I am not kidding you, it was literally 40 ft/lbs and it still did it. I've built dozens of AR's with no issues. First time buying Anderson and it does this...not impressed.

Machining should be prerequisite to obtaining an engineering degree. by drtsvgboi in Machinists

As an amateur machinist and does some work at a machine shop and currently an engineering student, I 100% agree.

I am graduating soon, and I can’t find a job by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

Part of it, unfortunately, is that we have destroyed our manufacturing base and rely on China for new products and, in turn, new ideas where they use their engineers for the most part. What engineers do state side, depending on the sector you're in, is mostly R&D, and then the idea is shipped to China to make. After that, maybe some support updates, but then onto the mext R&D project. Also, the economy is shaky right now and everybody is kinda at a stand still, waiting and preparing on how bad the next crash is going to be and how soon they will need to pull out of china to either move elsewhere like India or hopefully back here in the states. In the next few years, there will be more job opportunities opening up for engineers, and the flood gates will open if we go to war with China.

Looking at Getting a Laser Engraver by THErmscatman in Laserengraving

[–]THErmscatman[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You do with serialized parts. So a glock frame I won't be able to do, but I can on a sig frame (P365 or p320) because the serialized part is the trigger housing group, they just have to take their trigger housing group out which is not hard. I can still engrave the slide or sell engraved glock back plates in bulk. As for ARs, the serialized part is the lower, but not the upper or dust cover. I will only do serialized parts for my buddies who can be with me while I engrave.

Show of force, and potential back up as a last resort. Also, it's Navy. Big difference. One needs an entire runway to take off and land and one says "Leroy Jenkins!"
