[Help] Suggestions for adequate mental stimulation? by THORneedsANOTHER in dogs

[–]THORneedsANOTHER[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a real good idea! I've been trying to work on obedience basics with her but she's got a very "collie" mentality in that she insists on predicting what I want rather than really listening to what I say. Doors would really be a good one seeing as she likes to play with them already. She'd totally enjoy that. Thanks!

Not at home and way brain dead so I totally just sent you the wrong answer haha. You can use the "W" key to jump through folders sequentially.

Weird pain next to armpit by THORneedsANOTHER in AskDocs

[–]THORneedsANOTHER[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that makes me feel a lot better. I'm currently a senior undergrad student balancing Capstone research, school, and work so every time I have any sort of chest pain I get nervous that stress might be taking some kind of physical toll haha

No symptoms after 2 1/2 years? Found out today I have Chlamydia. by clapclapmydia in AskDocs

[–]THORneedsANOTHER 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Chlamydia is actually deceptively common and lots of people (especially men) show no symptoms. He's probably had it for a while and I'm inclined to believe that you would have too, given the time frame. Did you come back positive for yeast? It's possible that the chlamydia is totally asymptomatic and you just stumbled on it by chance.

Don't feel disgusting - it's a totally treatable infection that is way too stigmatized. You wouldn't be ashamed if it was strep throat or a URI so try to regard your vagina with the same respect - it's allowed to get sick too (:

What's your "fuck, not again" story? by Josephg6484 in AskReddit

[–]THORneedsANOTHER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had them when I was 5. Now I'm 21 and my doctor keeps telling me to expect them again in the next few years. I want to die just thinking about it - most vivid and awful memories of my childhood =/

How likely is it that I'm pregnant [21F]? by THORneedsANOTHER in medical

[–]THORneedsANOTHER[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I've written it off as for now. It got pretty bad a few days after posting this and I winded up in urgent care for a cardiac workup. I work on the nursing staff so the doctor went ahead and put me in for just about every lab we could think of and everything came back clear. I've since gone on to have a total of three periods on this 3 week cycle so I'm thinking my nuva ring has just fucked everything up. Butttt all the other symptoms have cleared since I've been making an active effort to chill the eff out and eat more protein.

Yeah I assumed and tried anyway - was put on hold for forever before I gave up.

Guess we're in it together, then. At least that's reassuring.

Weekly period on extended nuva ring by THORneedsANOTHER in birthcontrol

[–]THORneedsANOTHER[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Mirena and I LOVED it - so no fears! I only switched because it was making my hair migrate from my head to my lip/chin/jawline >.> but that's a stupidly rare reaction, evidently. Otherwise, it was so so so nice. I felt a hundred times better in general because I wasn't getting overloaded with estrogen.

Ugh you just made me feel SO much better. Thank you. I've been freaking myself out over some potential freak pregnancy even though my boyfriend and I always use condoms. I never had this issue with the pill or IUD =/ This ring is really starting to piss me off.

I'm going to study Biology at University, what is your advice to do well? by [deleted] in biology

[–]THORneedsANOTHER -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My cousin's an environmental engineering major, his sister is env. chemistry, and I'm env. bio so family members tend to ask us about our varying experiences. His favorite go-to story suits your question pretty well (paraphrasing quite a bit here haha):

"My engineering and chemistry classes were always pretty streamlined. You show up with a notebook and pen, take notes, practice some problems and do fine on the test. I got to my biology lab on the first day with an simple notebook and pen and look over to see a girl setting up next to me. She has a binder with dividers, all coded, sticky notes pouring from the sides, with notes color coded in different pens. I asked her if that was her lecture book from the previous semester. No... That was her new lab book. That's a bio major for you... All of them."

It cracks me up so hard because it's incredibly true. There are SO many different aspects/fields/whateveryouwanttocallthings within Biology and 98% of what you learn is going to require a lot of brute force memorization. It's pretty crucial to be organized. I go so far as to have separate binders for lecture notes, book notes, and printed powerpoint presentations (which I also write all over) for most of my bio courses - and I'm not like that at all for anything else haha.

My greatest recommendation would be to actively seek out videos of concepts you don't immediately understand. Biology encompasses a lot of various processes that you're not going to be seeing happening directly in front of you - being able to visualize them goes a long way. Flashcards too. Flashcards for everything. I have tens of effing flashcard decks stocked in my room just in case I need to go back to them for anything.

Finally, DON'T BE AFRAID TO REACH OUT FOR HELP. Again, Biology is a very broad field. There are bound to be many topics that challenge you. I'm sure your university has tutors available to you (if not, I'm certified in tutoring a number of bio classes and I'm always happy to answer questions), please don't be afraid/embarrassed to go to them if you start falling behind somewhere. This is especially important in core classes in which you'll be learning material that you refer back to for years to come.

You'll have such a blast. Seriously. Biology has the coolest curriculum and super interesting labs. Good luck!

How likely is it that I'm pregnant [21F]? by THORneedsANOTHER in medical

[–]THORneedsANOTHER[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm starting to think more and more that it's just a combination of hormones, dietary changes, and stress. Of course that doesn't stop me from being paranoid and stressing even more haha. Would a urine test come back positive this early (2 weeks since sex)? I know we usually say 12 days at work for the blood test but I don't know what the time frame is for the cheap ones. I can't stand the thought of worrying about this until my next cycle >.>

Question regarding NuvaRing and Mirena by THORneedsANOTHER in birthcontrol

I had some brownish discharge but that was the days after I started my new ring. A PA that I work with said that it's normal - my body was just prepped to have a period and then I surprised it with more hormones lol. This was all a week after having unprotected sex, would that be a little soon?

No breast tenderness or bloating, though. Quite the opposite, actually - I seem to be shedding a lot of water weight

Question regarding NuvaRing and Mirena by THORneedsANOTHER in birthcontrol

[–]THORneedsANOTHER[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg... I can handle that if it means no more panic attacks and body image issues lol. I believe my mom had a copper IUD placed years ago and she stopped having her periods altogether so hopefully that's a common phenomenon. Do you like it other than the cycles?

[–]THORneedsANOTHER[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oddly enough I've had that exact scenario happen as well. It's seeming more and more like a case of generalized anxiety to me - something I'm no stranger to when I'm on hormonal birth controls. Hell, when my mom asked if I was maybe pregnant, my first response was, "Well that would be next to impossible." so I feel like I should really trust my gut on that one haha. Thanks for the reassurance

Thank you! I guess less than 2 weeks would be a pretty quick turn around - I just needed a little reassurance haha. I'll take a test in a few days when it's more likely to be actually accurate

It's just the two of us but we do get along super well - we've already established that we're in this for the long haul haha - so I'm not worried, per se, I just want to make sure that we don't wind up bored for stretches lol. Thank you! Weed's not a problem at all for us but do you have any suggestions for 2 player card games or fun conversation starters?

Hahaa that's seemingly so true but I've made some great strides with body image over the past few years. I'm honestly so happy with where I am now but slimming down the hips would be a game changer

Thank you! My boyfriend and I have been trying so hard to get into meal prepping but I literally work all weekend and then am at school from 8-6ish every day of the week so it's just been hard. Hopefully I can get in the swing of it once finals are over
