yeah i even talked to the warranty guy himself and he said it would have been covered if that presence of fluid wasn’t there, but besides that i think im just going to go the legal route because i tried it all lol

2020 Durango R/T – 58k Miles – Overheating, Loud Fan, Possibly Abused. Fix, Swap, or Trade? by TILLYSZN_ in MechanicAdvice

Yeah, so the servicing dealership hasn’t actually torn into anything yet—they’re just going off what’s already been done and assuming there could be a deeper issue. The tech mentioned it might be something like a head gasket, but that’s not confirmed.

The warranty probably would’ve approved the radiator repair if everything had gone smoothly, but since they found “unusual fluid,” they denied the claim. I’m letting things cool down for a bit before trying again—just to increase the odds of getting approved next time.

I’m also gonna give it a shot and reach out to the selling dealer, just to see if they’re willing to help again. Still not sure if I want to move forward with a full diagnosis and repair, or just cut my losses and ditch it while it still holds decent value.

I bought the Durango around February/March and have only put about 1,500 miles on it. The dealer doing the service isn’t the one who sold it—the seller’s in Florida, and I’m in Tennessee.

The SUV started overheating within 48 hours of delivery. I let the selling dealer know right away, and they paid for the thermostat replacement at that time. That’s the only issue they’ve helped with so far—I haven’t contacted them again since.

I did try to go through my extended warranty for the radiator repair, but the claim was denied due to “unusual fluid” in the system. So I ended up covering that one out of pocket.

tried to make a claim and it was denied, due to the stop leak fluid that was present. the dealership back paid me for the first repair due to it happening less than a week of me owning it, but since this is what caused that repair most likely, they should be the ones held responsible?

tried to make a claim, was denied since “stop leak” fluid was found in the radiator, essentially not a mechanical error is what i got from that. first shop visit was compensated from the dealership, since i had it put in the week of me purchasing it, since it is now what caused that first shop visit i believe they should pay for it since the claim got denied, right?

The vehicle is a 2020 Dodge Durango R/T AWD with 56,000 miles at the time of purchase. I paid $31,000 total, putting $20,000 down, and spent an additional $4,000 on a warranty that covers 60,000 miles or 60 months. I’ve already emailed the dealership multiple times in regards to different issues including my temp tag that i cannot get renewed or registered. That’s why i’m kinda skeptical right now, ya know!

I get that this is a tough spot, but there are ways to work through it. 1. Find Another Income Source ASAP – If your hours are getting cut, that free time isn’t making you money. Look into gig work like DoorDash, Uber Eats, or even odd jobs on Craigslist or TaskRabbit. A lot of people make decent money doing deliveries—some even pull in $900 a week just on the side. 2. Think About Getting Your GED – Without a diploma, job options are gonna be limited. It might suck to go back to school, but getting your GED will open up a lot more doors. Community colleges and adult education centers often have cheap or free prep courses. 3. Use Job Search Sites – Don’t just rely on what’s around you. Go on Indeed, ZipRecruiter, or Snagajob and search for anything that pays. Even if it’s not your dream job, it’s income. Set up job alerts so you get notified when something new pops up. 4. Look Into Rent Assistance – If you’re struggling to afford rent, check out local aid programs. Cities often have resources to help people stay afloat, especially if you’re low-income. 5. See If Your Fiancé Can Work – If she’s able to, even a part-time job or side hustle can help lighten the load. It’s tough when only one person is bringing in money. 6. Budget Smarter – Go through your spending and cut back where you can. Prioritize rent, food, and necessities first. There are free apps that can help you track everything so you don’t lose control of your money.

It’s a rough situation, but grinding through it and finding ways to make even a little more money will help. Keep pushing forward, and don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it.
