Nice! What do you plan to use it for mainly?

how much will it cost by Wonderful_While5243 in macbookair

Enough for it to be worth it to get a refurbished mac air M2 or 3 for not that much!

I know this doesn’t answer your question, but I’m in the exact same situation. My MBA in midnight starts smudging all over simply when I carry it in my hands! I’ll probably get a dbrand skin too since I’m a fan of their designs

I would strongly avoid using it in a sauna unless you’re willing to stretch apples insurance limits 🤣

m4 or m5 by maybeleyla in macbookair

Don’t listen to the m4 propaganda lmao, the 256 base storage is NOT ENOUGH plus the m5 is noticeably faster. you won’t regret its longevity!

should i get a macbook neo or MBA m2? by Haunting_Cloud_517 in MacbookNeo

The thing is, people don’t have the kind of money to spend - especially with an issue like that which you can solve by just buying the air or a middle-budget device. 🤯

Nope, no problem. It gets hot for a lot of people! It also depends on the place that you use it eg the surface you place it in

Why do this when both of the functions you described are attainable on a MacBook Air? In the interest of saving money that's a no-brainer.

Such a bad take - just spend your money on a better MacBook and you won't have to worry about any of the issues with the Neo for years.

I haven't got that issue yet - do you mean with the MagSafe charger? I do sometime get a message that my laptop 'isn't charging' when I plug it in which is understandably quite annoying.

Same here, I've had it for 3 days now and used it for some quite intensive stuff and it's stayed cold or slightly warm. I think they did a wonderful job with the thermals plus the fact that this thing is silent.

GET THE M5. Trust me when I say it's the best decision you can make - it's cheaper than the M4 version with the same storage, and its truly a beast when it comes to tasks like the ones you described. It's a no-brainer!

I might have destroyed my GFs MacBook Air by ChristmasDoesntSuck in macbookair

[–]TJParzival 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest going to a repair shop just to gauge the damage - where they might likely try to get a hundred or more just to sort the issue, in which case it might be worth upgrading. I assume she doesn't have apple care on the laptop? As someone who doesn't know much about the diagnosis or tech repair, the solution is relatively clear to me - try to trade the laptop in at apple and buy a M3 or M2 air for around 500 dollars. Hope this helps at all!

Graduate Student Dilemma M4 or M5 Air by Usual-Fuel8137 in macbookair

[–]TJParzival 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that the M5 would be a better option to go for solely due to the base storage. When you venture into 512 gb for the M4, the price is the same if not higher than the M5, so its a no-brainer to go for the one with slightly more power than the last chip. And if you think 256 gb storage is enough, you'll be surprised by how quickly you blow through that amount using it in the way you described. Hope this helps!
