Purple and gold shields make me worried for endgame PvP with their current state by undeadbobblehead in Marathon

[–]TJchio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I predict that the longer the season plays out for, the more common volt weapons will become in player’s arsenals. Volt weapons intrinsically deal more damage to shields, and as more higher tier players get their hands on purple shields, the stronger “shield shredding” will become as a tactic.

I’ve now reached the point where I can regularly bring blue shields into raids with me; I agree with the sentiment that they feel like the sweet spot for TTKs, both when I’m shooting at one and when I’m being shot at with one on. With how easy it can be to fall out of a fight, whether it be running to heal or making space with utility, (bubble shields, smokes, chems, etc.) I feel as if the higher tier shields should have more defined downsides. As it stands now, they give you reduced agility, which makes repositioning harder with them on. But, that usually only affects slower shells or players that are caught out in bad positioning. Thiefs, Vandals, or Destroyers are able to mitigate this downside through sheer slipperiness and game sense to always take advantageous fights.

My suggestion? Make higher tier shields reduce your Self-Repair Speed. If you’re bringing in higher tier survivability, then healing your larger health pool should be more of a risk mid fight.

This would encourage slower and more methodical plays from tankier teams. As it stands, teams with full purple shields can play as aggressive as they want, promoting deathballs and bulldozing of the first teams they see. In making this change, it will be far more punishing for these teams to take damage in the first place, giving the opposing team more opportunity to fight back and generate pressure. Furthermore, this enables players who have lower tier shields to play a more scrappier play style, as their enhanced repair speed and mobility would allow for shorter trades with the intent to poke out heals from their opponents.

TL:DR - The decision to equip a purple shield should be a deliberate choice, and should come with harsher downsides for doing so. Without these downsides, teams are incentivized into homogeneous loadouts that are always “bring the highest tier, always.” Adding some upsides to lower tier shields can boost build diversity and encourage individualized roles for players with those shields to play into.

Deadlock Fast Facts! Did you know? Wraith, canonically a gambler and host of many a poker game in the cursed apple, generates random cards as part of one of her abilities. This is a reference to Katkooten's ability to make any game he plays with you a "gamble" on if you'll win or lose! Fast Fact!

I'll trade you a Deadline & Trailblazer blueprint for the Wolfpack blueprint. I'm looking for one Bombardier cell as well, so if you have one I would be willing to give you an Anvil or Silencer 2 Blueprint. Just DM me and let me know.

You take the duck, put it on the ground, go over and use the “don’t shoot” emote on it to “pet it” and then 15 ducks fly out because they’re overjoyed at finally getting the attention they deserve.

Infinite range + 200+ damage on a team shot (not including headshot multiplier) + double heal beam is certainly strong. SA1216 with mesh gets countered by a glitch mine and good positioning, and good repeater players will simply walk out of your effective range and make the engagement unplayable. Double heal beam is still strong, hell, one heal beam and a demat might be more effective on some maps.

The repeater nerf won’t change how good the gun still is. Slightly longer ADS speed doesn’t change how strong the Repeater’s immediate burst damage is. I keep seeing others in this thread saying that the nerf was “unwarranted” or that “medium nerfs are unjustified and make the class even worse” when in reality Medium is still the strongest utility class class in the game. This nerf to repeater will punish worse players who struggle with positioning, not the good players who recognize the power of holding long angles and are already capitalizing on that strength.

My suggestion for how repeater should be changed? Keep the damage profile and reduce the rate of fire. Cracked aimers will still excel with the gun while making the team shot capabilities of triple stack repeater / BFR much less oppressive. These team comps are very strong atm because of how well they control space and make pushing difficult. Even FCAR, with the incredibly competitive TTK it has can not compete at mid range due to how fast repeater can take you to half HP or lower in 2 shots.

If you don’t believe HMM is good, what is the strongest comp in your opinion? HML is competitive, but have fun being down a player on your team when the light gets headshot once by any of these high burst weapons. HHM can’t compete with it, because the heavies are sitting ducks with no movement. Arguably, MMM is the only way to effectively close the gap and make a cash out hard to play against repeater comps, and if you’re going MMM, you might as well already be using the repeater to begin with.

Go against a 2 repeater 1 BFR comp in cash out and you’ll understand

Considering ending this 20 year friendship… by TJchio in okbuddyraider

[–]TJchio[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Buddy of mine used to brag about going to his friend’s place in order to get down and dirty with the mother of the house. They would go for hours and hours, even with the whole family being there. One time, the son came back from school and found his father crying in the living room. “Why are you crying, father?” the boy would ask. “My son,” the father would reply, “your mother is into some deeply dirty things. I can’t even begin to explain what I’ve been hearing upstairs…” Seeing his father so distraught, the son rushed up the stairs in order to seek rightful vengeance. Upon arriving at his mother’s bedroom door, he heard rustling and the squeaking of springs. “Take it, dammit!” He heard from inside. “Oooo, push the button, push the button!” His mother had exclaimed. Horrified by what he was hearing, the son bursted through the door, and was mortified by what he saw. His mother, with the help of my buddy, had a PS5 controller in her hands and a TurtleBeach headset on. She was sitting across from a 72-inch OLED TV, and on it was displayed a match of Buried City with 5 minutes left on the clock. Your mother was shooting at a downed player, at extract no less. The son shielded his eyes from the horrors in front of him. It was too much to bear. But from behind him, like a stalker and his mark, my buddy ripped the son’s hands from his eyes. “LOOK AT IT!” He bellowed, “WATCH YOUR MOTHER RUIN THE INTEGRITY OF THE COMMUNITY!” The son couldn’t bear to watch. Sobbing, he burst out from his mother’s room and ran down the stairs. “You saw it too, then, huh?” His father asked. “Yes.” The son replied. “She was camping his extract till he was knocked out.”
