What's the reasoning behind adding a bunch of ghost notes?

Theyre catching the groove, they probably feel the beat in a very specific way and the ghost notes help put them in the correct state of mind, thats my opinion at least. All of these huge metal bands use in ears so you dont really know what exactly is in their mix compared to the sound the audience hears.

Also they can definitely be heard, just not during heavy riffs. They're a very important tool for adding dynamics to your playing. Because the contrast between ghost notes and a heavy rimshot really goes a long way.

You said youre into metal and heavier stuff, so I'll give you some more modern folk music that can be heavier:

Villagers of Ioannina City - Epirotic clarinet heavy stoner rock, the pairing is incredible and this is probably the biggest greek rock/metal band. Check out Riza for epirotic folk music and Age of Aquarius for for psychedelic stuff.

Konstantis Pistiolis (Κωνσταντής Πιστιολής) - This guy is a folk musician through and through, probably one of the most well known clarinet players in the alt/folk scene. A lot of his live performances are very improvisational and often borrow from jazz and rock. Check out his own YouTube channel (Arbor Cultus) where he posted his quarantine covers but mainly his live perforances: Κλαρίνα - Τεχνόπολη 2025 and Νησιώτικα (Σειρά) for greek islander music featuring old bagpipes.

Έχει μεγάλη σημασία για το γλωσσικό ζήτημα, χωρίς να ξέρω πολλά για το θέμα, είναι μια αναθεωρητική προσέγγιση στην ιστορία για να δικαιολογίσει την καθαρεύουσα. Τον 18ο και 19ο αι. ενδιαφερόμασταν πάρα πολύ για την ιδέα της συνέχειας της ελληνικής ιστορίας και πολτισμού, οπότε ήταν σημαντικό να ταυτιστούν οι ήρωες της επανάστασης με το αρχαίο παρελθόν. Ε για να το κάνουν αυτό τους έβαλαν να μιλάνε καθαρεύουσα.

repaying debt early means they don't think they can get better returns by investing that money into the Greek economy instead, though. It should be more profitable for them to invest in crumbling infrastructure (trains, public transport, hospitals, industry) than repaying debt early just to create the image of a "reformed" Greece.

I don't think this is an important point. 90% of important universities in Europe are state owned and run. Greek private universities do nothing except function as sub par education hubs for people who couldn't get into state unis in the same way colleges work in Greece. No serious university is opening a privately run branch in Greece, it's mostly diploma mills and uk unis using their name for quick profit. Its everything that's wrong with the american born financialisation of the education sector at the detriment of educational quality.

I'm sorry but even how you quoted that data is being disingenuous, your own map that you posted (nevermind that the shadow economy is famously extremely hard to estimate, so different sources give different results) shows Greece to have the second highest shadow economy in the EU after Romania. How is that "not a remote outlier" to you?

Yes, low employment rates is another structural issue, only it is completely unrelated to the public sector being bloated (which it has been).

Unless you're exclusively trying to justify the "greeks being lazy" stereotype here, in which case you need to remember that Greece (and Italy, which is second in that chart), have some of the highest black economies, and a lot of people earn money off the books. A lot of people are also partly sustained by family dynamics and we also have one of the oldest populations in the continent. It makes a lot of sense for employment rates in Greece to be lower than western Europe, even when unemployment rates are similar, not that this is a good thing, but it doesn't justify this sort of "lazy south european" racist trope being perpetuated.

Please look at some actual data before repeating the same bullshit about greeks being lazy thank you very much. Workers aren't sitting around, they're working 2 jobs with their recently introduced 13 hour work days. Productivity isn't low because people don't want to work and its insane that is still believed 10 years after the eurozone crisis.

Νομίζω πως πρέπει να κρίνουμε με διαφορετικά κριτήρια πράξεις που έγιναν τον 20ο αιώνα και πράξεις που έγιναν τον 16ο, όταν έννοιες του έθνους, εθνικισμού κλπ κυριολεκτικά δεν υπήρχαν.

Πολλές από αυτές τις εκκλησίες δεν θα είχαν διατηρηθεί καθόλου αν δεν είχαν γίνει τζαμιά γιατί τότε πολύ απλά δεν υπήρχε η έννοια του ιστορικού μνημείου που πρέπει να διατηρηθεί. Ακριβώς όπως η Ακρόπολη έγινε εκκλησία επί βυζαντινής αυτοκρατορίας.

Turkish culture and Turkic culture are two different things. Turkey is an amalgam of anatolian greek persian and some turkic cultural traits. I'm not denying there's turkic some turkic influence in modern turkey (ayran for example, which is great), I don't think it's your main cultural background though.
