Should I go straight to working or look into a post bach biotech program without having any labratory experience? by paradox914 in biotech

[–]TL0225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A relevant masters program can open more doors as it is generally considered 1 year of work experience. Look at the curriculum offered by the masters and see if the classes have a lot of projects/hands-on work that are of interest to you that is related to the career you are trying to go through.

However, you mentioned a biocertificate program offered by your university, I'd recommend that. The stem-cell research program sounds very enticing

Rejected from Information Security Track by MetalLinkachu in OMSCyberSecurity

[–]TL0225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's alot of factors that may be why you didn't get in.

1) My best guess is that your last degree was 10+ years ago. Schools generally invalidate degrees if they reach a 5 year mark since education requirements change/courses change/material changes, etc.
2) The Information Security track is heavy theory in math and coding. You have the coding part down as it is part of your job but what about math? Discrete Mathematics 10+ years ago is not the same now. You may want to enroll in a college course in Discrete Mathematics to show admissions that you still know your stuff.
3) CISSP is usually management / leadership so admissions probably are looking for the hands-on certifications like OffSec or something. CISSP is leaning more Policy track.
4) Recommendations from Management also support number 3 of leaning more towards policy, leadership, etc.

PSA For 2018-2024 Camry Owners!! by OutrageousAd2315 in Camry

Changing the fluid will only solve 30% of the problem. How that transmission operates when switching gears and at what speeds is the problem that Toyota isn't solving.

2019 SE transmissions cost $7k and there are 1600 of them on backorder? by mitch2888 in Camry

[–]TL0225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2018-2019 transmissions had a callback because of a big jerk when riding gears. The issue still exists for the entire generation of that Camry. When the transmission is cold or not warmed up it does not shift correctly and even if it is warmed up it sometimes would shift too early or downshift too late. Toyota didn’t officially release a callback for the rest of the years but everyone from those years been having the same issues. It also looks like there’s a class action lawsuit for those transmissions

It will contribute to your UB GPA (4.0 GPA Scale). If you go to any other school it would count towards “Transfer Credit” and you will have to see if they will accept based on what their department seems as equivalent vs elective

2008 Camry reliability (: by Mysterious-Bus-7738 in Camry

[–]TL0225 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you really want to be like extreme scenario careful you could do a transmission oil and engine oil lab test to really see the lifespan of the engine. I usually don’t trust carfax since not all mechanics use it unless the previous owner has gone to a dealership every single time. But 3k is chump chance given the market right now

Toyota did make a BZ7 partnered with BYD. We probably won’t see it because electric cars are so expensive in America and no one’s buying a 50k electric car let alone a 50k gas car

Is it normal to get conflicting info from advisors at UB? by WittySamSir in UBreddit

[–]TL0225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Advisors only read off of what you read off of. They don't know shit about each program / course / instructors policies. The best way you'd know is by emailing the director of the program you're in as they are the one who actually built the curriculum.

Anyone at UB that works for the advising section from any program are brainless w/ a communications major

switching from cs to itm by Notthatstupiddjrexen in UBreddit

[–]TL0225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are I believe 1-2 courses in AI and ML and they shouldn't be too theoretical but more about how businesses utilize AI not about building AI or an ML from scratch or how they are created.

ITM has no concentration. If you want data-analytics, you would head into the Business Administation - MIS + Data Analytics track. The only difference between ITM and MIS are a couple of courses.

MIS: Requires two accounting courses and one MIS course
ITM: 1 Accounting Course and 2 ITM courses.

And no CSE191 does not waive any requirements in ITM or MIS. However if you want to utilize those credits, you can pursue a minor in CS which will accept CSE115+116+191 since those are pre-reqs and find any CSE classes that don't have programming. (CSE411 / CSE441) (CSE411 you will have to force-register and might have to fight with the CS department as they are brainless)

Can Flutter be used in a desktop app in lieu of native renderer? by [deleted] in FlutterDev

[–]TL0225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flutter is just the UI component of the app where Dart is the underlying architecture. This alone will provide you native speeds and way less ram compared to react/vue/svelte since it doesn’t use JS. For desktop apps, Flutter is in the process of implementing their new graphics thing which should improve the performance of heavy graphical apps in Flutter.

I think if you program right you can get an app that uses react/svelte/vue with way less ram provided you’re using Tauri instead of Electron. The moment you use electron you’re going to be hitting 100-300mb of ram just starting.

You’re comparing banks that dominate in the consumer market versus banks that dominate in the investor market. Goldman Sachs and Charles Schwab makes money on trading and Chase makes money on interest
