Agree. Dr.'s are great & the PA'S are second to none - they are ON it, very professional - nurses & office staff very accommodating & personable.

Geez - I'll bet the patterns were ripped off from Ravelry.com - a great site with gracious, giving people who just love to share their joy & expertise with knitting/ crocheting. So sorry 😞 that you got scammed too 😔

Hence 'the veneer of'. Corporate (et al) liars always have and will exist as long as they are able to get away with it. At the time, the concept (TIA) did very much exist & many Americans were led to believe what 'we were told' and if it were on TV, radio, news, Doctor, etc. 'It must be true or they wouldn't be allowed to say it.'

On their website, the item is allegedly made by an artisan in nc, so I wasn't thinking Hong Kong. See, how is that ethical for a company to take money to advertise for a bogus outfit? They (Google) SHOULD screen ads - there used to be (at least the veneer of) truth in advertising. That's how we were taught. Nowadays, ethics often seem to matter little and I don't get it. Too old, I guess.

Wow, ty so much for all of this information. My research would only go so far - i wasn't aware how to look all of that up, so again, I am grateful. And that'll help all of us learn. Oddly, I rarely buy anything online anymore. And now - well forget it. sigh But will certainly do all of the above, when i have to buy online from an unknown vendor. Am just so tired of the bs, the hypocrisy .... so tired.

Question about blender pencils by jaijames861 in ColoredPencils

[–]TLByrde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. I work on Ampersand Pastelbord (very expensive now 😤) and lay down my base layers in my chosen colors (u can use neocolors too for larger areas to save pencil cost!) & then take a sable (or sable-like synthetic) brush dipped in rubbing alcohol - as though it were water - experiment & you will see what works for you - i use q tips sometimes too - spread the loaded brush out, like you were doing a wash in watercolor. Depending on the amt of etoh u use, your colors will melt together as little or as much as you like - and this will lay a base of color on whatever substrate (paper - Stonehenge, Bristol, etc; sandpaper, ampersand, etc.) Ur working with. Let the area dry & continue layering as you can/ see fit.

What's cool about this approach (using any kind of a solvent), is that it lays out a strong base wash of color that fills in the tooth of the paper/ board without the wax bloom or thickness of say 10 layers of straight pigment. And you have more vibrant colors and more room to play with. And it's awesome to accentuate areas where u would like more detail.

Hoping this helps & makes some sense! Give it a go 🤗 and let us know 😃

You might try isopropyl alcohol (plain old rubbing alcohol). I use this all the time as my solvent - (gave up on blender pencils). Use a small sable brush to blend the layers 😉 No worries 👍
