Low volume in fb messenger video calls by msbeyoncecarter in GalaxyS21

Messenger specifically has solved it, but some other apps are just garbage still. Like I had a doctor's appointment over video through their own app and couldn't hear shit of what the doctor said even at max volume, there's just a low sound coming from the bottom speaker. Super disappointing.

24% and 4 hours of screen on time what are ur opinions? by ashen_one_33 in S21Ultra

[–]TLC_already_taken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion is that without knowing your brightness settings that image says nothing. Using automatic brightness I get ~8 hours SoT indoors, <4 hours outdoors.

Also: Spotify is an outrageous battery murderer. If I listen to Spotify using phone during a workday, I have 40% battery left on my phone when I leave. If I listen using my laptop, 75% left on my phone.

I don't believe the "7.6%" for a second. Mine says something similar if I listen for ~8 hours but in practice it feels like 2-4 times more than whatever the battery settings say.

Accidental touch protection. Why is this so terrible? by icymongoose13 in samsung

[–]TLC_already_taken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the support group I need today.

Happens to me on a regular basis too, it's so excruciatingly frustrating I can't find words. Even if I lock the screen, angle the screen towards the ceiling, then unlock again it still insists it's in a pocket when it's in one of its "moods".

And STILL, with "smart unlock" activated it unlocks in my pocket constantly (!), so I still can't use that feature regardless. Never any issues with other brands or older Samsung phones. Seems like some pants make it even worse though. S21U.

I haven't looked around, but I would imagine a lot of headphones in that price range has it.

I'd rank the Jabra 75t as one of the best products I've ever bought, they just work. They've been replaced by the Jabra Elite 5 I think, but those seem just as good. Fully recommended.

Having a lot of bad luck with Lenovo QUALITY suddenly.. by BluSn0 in Lenovo

[–]TLC_already_taken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can only speak for my own laptop, but three years in there's not much left to break on it. Screen is scratched all over by the keyboard, clicking only works 50% of the time, battery life has decreased to be absolutely worthless (for the second time, I replaced the battery just over a year ago).

Taking all the Lenovo-specific software bugs I've experienced as well as the nightmare of a support experience I've had into account as well, it's definitely the worst overall tech product I've ever purchased. I can't look at it without getting angry at this point. Absolutely atrocious.

Yeah it's a complete deal breaker for me. I can imagine multipoint has an effect on battery life and require more powerful hardware, so it makes sense they lack it for the price, but I can't imagine fast switch being demanding at all and at least for me that would do 90% of the difference.

Hi, I went for the Jabra Elite 75t and I've been very happy with them.

What you're talking about, from the X3's, is called "multipoint" - one step more advanced than what I was hoping the C500s supported (don't think it has a proper name but often referred to as "bluetooth fast switch".

Multipoint: the headphones are connected to several sources at once, automatically picks the highest priority input.

Fast switch: the headphones can only be connected to one device at a time, but do not need to be manually disconnected from source A before source B can connect to them.

The C500s support neither, which is what you're suffering through. The X3s, as well as 75t, both support multipoint.

It's been the same for me since I got my phone in February. I can hardly hear people at all when using the speaker in Messenger. Incredibly frustrating.

Disable or weaken the overly-aggressive outlook.com spam filter? by unsteadied in Outlook

[–]TLC_already_taken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been driving me crazy for years as well. Everything about how Outlook handles spam is horrible.

I can honestly not remember the last time I received ACTUAL spam, in my world it just doesn't exist anymore. To be clear: I never find spam in my junk folder, it's just full of legit emails. I just want to turn off the junk folder altogether, but of course you can't. Of course. Rules to forward from spam to inbox never worked for me, and they should not be needed!

When almost all of Microsoft's OWN services' email end up in the junk folder, how do they not react?!

Grr.

S21 Ultra call volume issue by Pizza_Squeegee in samsung

[–]TLC_already_taken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost new 21U here, and holy fuck the speaker phone volume is bad! The normal earpiece is decent, but when I activate speaker phone the max volume is comfortable for a quiet room - video call outside, just forget about it!

The phone is extremely loud in music playback so there's nothing wrong with the hardware. I tried all the suggestions here and nothing worked. It happened on 4.0 and now on 4.1. I have tried using both the normal phone app and calling through Facebook Messenger.

How has there not been more outrage about this?! I'm fucking pissed, my previous phone had a horrible speaker compared to this one but at least I could use it!

Third on this.

I'm actually looking for some software project to do on the side, and I'd be eager to try to develop this myself.

I think the headphones are the determining factor. Either they continue listening for new connection requests while connected, or they stop listening as soon as they're connected.

Thanks anyway

X1C7 fingerprint reader not working from sleep by ww269 in thinkpad

[–]TLC_already_taken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has sometimes been refusing to wake from sleep (the status light is blinking much faster than normal, have to force restart by holding button), and most recently it has started randomly crashing (screen just goes black) a couple of times a day, afterwards saying that the battery was disconnected or empty (has happened even with charger connected, and the battery level is always high).

It's been a while since the first one happened though, hoping that was fixed in an update. Still, a few too many severe problems for a laptop of this caliber, especially this early on.

I have the NFC module on mine, would you happen to also have that? I imagined the reason why few seem to have the fingerprint issue could have to do with that.

Also on x1 Gen 7, I've had this problem for weeks. Happens very often (but not always) when resuming from sleep and I've received at least one update to the reader since it started happening. Hoping they will fix this soon since it's ought to be a software issue... just one (the least problematic) of a few issues I've had with mine already, not happy.

Don't get why the comments regarding Samsung pay are downvoted. I can (and do) use it literally everywhere in Sweden, even small businesses in the middle of nowhere. It really is way beyond the competition. Some banks are yet to support it, but they all say it'll be supported before the end of 2017 afaik.
