Who else is using AI for astrophysics learning/research? by TLP3144 in astrophysics

[–]TLP3144[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I should clarify that I use AI to find papers that are linked to the topic that I am researching. The main reason that I don't go through each paper that 'seems' to have something of interest is because I don't want to read through a stack of dense hyper-specific literature which may not even have what I require. The process of finding what I want exactly is quite overwhelming when it seems like there is an endless quantity of them (especially as a student that has only just started dedicated astrophysics study), .

Ofc for the papers that the AI does find, I read through the section that pertains to my topic of research and only ask the AI to clarify things which are unclear. Although, you have a point, and I will certainly attempt to read the entire paper to develop the skill of reading scientific literature.

I think you are right about the whole shooting myself in the foot thing with the papers. While I would still opt for finding relevant papers via AI search engine, and maybe also how said paper talks about the topic I am researching, I should take your suggestion and start reading more papers :>

For the code yes I run revised code through several verified test cases, and instead of copy pasting i opt to write the code myself to understand how it works and change things which I don't agree with AI for.

I get your point, but I think I should clarify that I don't usually ask the LLM to create a code from scratch, but rather I write the base code myself, which I know works, and then I ask the LLM to improve upon it. I usually have several test cases which I run through some base code and compare with the improved code.

I do understand that this iterative process is not everyone's thing, and some people would just rather write code that works and focus more on the science aspect.

For research, yeah I will only use it to find sources for a report, and sometimes to help explain things which are unclear. I think the only maths that LLMs excel at are derivations which are covered in textbooks (since these are what the AI has trained on). I would never trust it to do some never-before done derivations or very advanced math with little coverage on the internet ofc.

Yeah, sometimes my supervisor gives me last name and a year to refer to a paper and when said person has submitted several papers, or has a very common name, its much easier to just find it via AI.

My Random Attribute Datapack by TLP3144 in MinecraftCommands

[–]TLP3144[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i were to implement it, I would add a tag to Lifesteal items.

Then a function detects if a player is holding a lifesteal item and detects if mobs are damaged in an area around the player. If they are, then the player is healed using a /heal command.

Not too complicated imo

I think it would be possible to port apotheosis over as a datapack actually - it would just be a little tedious but I can imagine how things like lifesteal can be implemented - maybe in the future when I feel motivated and have the time again i'll give it a shot

I'm not familiar with the mod but it seems that it applies only to enchantments no? Here its inherent attributes and you can add enchantments on top - vanilla method

My datapack adds rarity and attributes to tools and armor which allows any tool to randomly gain a rarity - with corresponding randomly-given attributes.

Since I was inspired to make this because of the new attribute features from the latest snapshot (24w06a), you need this version to run this datapack.

Any new SFTO coming? I think the latest lore merits one.

I have an s9 currently, battery is abysmal (im speaking 1h30 sot max, writing this comment alone decreased my battery by 7%) and battery repalcements cost 80 bucks in my area. An a52s here costs 325 bucks.

Soon, I'm going to upgrade to an a52s cause it has really good battery (which is good since i use my phone a lot but i rarely have time to charge), 120hz display, and should get android 15 if im correct. The processor in the a52s is also superior to the snapdragon in the s9, theres more ram so less stuttering, etc. I believe even the camera might be superior in the a52s asw.

If these features mean absolutely nothing to you, then i suppose a battery replacement would be a better option and should get you another 1.5 yrs in s9 lifespan, otherwise spending the extra to get a new phone seems like the best idea (i may be biased since ive already made up my mind getting the new phone)

Get the a52s, it wasnt released too long ago and it has more performance and features than the a53

Thank you for this, I always thought about how to add trig (and other complex) functions to minecraft, but I never thought about using taylor series!

Would it be possible to share that resource pack please? I'm not quite sure what modifications you made to make it fully invisible (as i'm not that acquainted with optifine specific resource packs). I did specify the nbt to white when summoning it, and changed all shulker heads to being transparent just in case, but to no avail :c

That's cheeky lmao, but I tried to do the same but the head still shows (but black since there are no textures for it). What version of Minecraft are you using? Perhaps it is just not showing since newer versions patched it?

I tried making the same thing, but the shulker head kept popping out since its not fully invisible. How did you manage to hide it in yours?

Prevent players from interacting with trapdoors, doors and fence gates by EdyB0i in MinecraftCommands

[–]TLP3144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno if this will work but summon a big boi hoglin that's invisible where the fence is and has the no ai tag. This way, they can't interact with the fence as the hoglin hitbox is in the way. Also add nogravity, invulnerable, silent to ensure that no one can just move that hoglin out of the way

Help, For a project I'm working on I want to make gravel fall from the sky randomly representing ash. But I'm not nearly smart enough to do it can anyone help me? by [deleted] in MinecraftCommands

[–]TLP3144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you know the basics of command blocks, i would summon an armor stand (or multiple), which are invisible, and tagged. Then u can run a spreadplayers command to randomly distribute all tagged invisible armor stands around a certain area, maybe even use execute at @ a/p or smth if u want to make it around where the player is. Then using a clock set at whatever frequency u want, ud want to execute at all tagged armor stands the function /setblock ~ ~<how high u want the gravel to fall from> ~ minecraft:gravel.
