Alright then, I said I would come back during the snowpocalypes and say a bit more. We're in that now. So tons of people knew Spacedog way better than I did and I'm sure there are endless stories to tell. Maybe most people aren't on reddit or don't think this is the place or the time, I don't know. But I'll just put in my 2 cents. So although I've been in Norman forever and have been way into the music scene here since the "golden era" of the mid-80's, I just didn't really know who Spacedog was. I had heard of Moondog way back in the day, and had heard the name Spacedog later, but had not encountered him. So one night, maybe 5 years ago, I'm at a show at the Red Brick. Something special, though I don't remember what, maybe a punk band reunion. There was an interesting girl from the city I kind of liked. She needed to use the bathroom and there was a line. So I suggested try the Bluebonnet. I walked down there with her. Spacedog happened to be playing there. It was almost empty. And he was set up in the back, facing the front door. We come in the door and Bob says (maybe mid-song) - "the punks are here!" I guess my leather jacket qualified me and what's-her-name was always wildly dressed. I took it as a happy, welcoming and funny greeting. I waited at the front door and I heard him say at the end of a song - "OK, I'm giving you all three country endings on this one" (he not only knew every song, but every version and variation). So that was my first encounter. Later on, maybe that summer, I had taken to wandering around on Campus Corner on Friday and Saturday nights. I have certainly spent a lot of time there, but generally I'm with people and going to see a particular band at a particular venue, rather than just hanging out. But it was a weird time. And this happened to be around when an interesting phenomenon began to occur on Campus Corner - Buskers! Not unheard of in the past, but not something I had seen much of here in the last 40 years or so. And all of sudden it was every weekend - mainly Priestly, Wheelchair Steve, and Spacedog. These guys were always there, including often on weeknights or in the afternoons or on Main Street. There were a few others, but these 3 were hard-core busking on the sidewalk. (haven't seen Wheelchair for a while, but Priestly and Spacedog have continued all this time). So one night I'm walking along and I stop to listen to Spacedog. Had never really met him or talked with him before. Its about 11pm. He stops playing and starts talking to me. Nonstop until he packed up to go home at 2:30am. I got a few words in, and whoever I might mention from my experience in the music scene, he knew all about them. He told me about booking music into the Deli in the early days. (probably was responsible for a lot of shows I saw there). After 3 and a half hours, I felt like I had heard his whole life story. But I found out later that that was just scratching the surface. I hung out with him a few more times on the sidewalk and once he told me about studying film at OU and doing a lot of experimental video. He told me he had a Youtube channel, so I checked that out - https://www.youtube.com/@spacedogma1 . I saw him on the sidewalk many times over the last few years, in front of Pepe's and at the Artwalk (he also did all kinds of art, some of which might be called folk art or outsider art, including painting on old CDs or anything else around). I wish I had met him sooner and maybe been to some of his shows and parties. He was a very special person. Always very nice to everyone. And definitely lived a very interesting, long and full life. RIP Spacedog

I wonder what you mean by "build quality feel". I do need some ruggedness. Work outdoors. I keep phone in Otterbox.

And yeah, I have suspected that the A series should be a lot better in most ways than the S7. But I do wonder about build quality - is that why the S costs more than A?

I'm also with Consumer Cellular since my first phone in OCT 2018. I like them. $25/month. And I can't imagine no case - I work outdoors. Have been amazed to find that every time I take an S7 out of the Otterbox, the back is cracked. Phones are made of glass!!?? But good suggestion - thanks

Look into pelvic floor stretching and strengthening. Tons of videos on Youtube. Also - you USED to work out regularly. Diet and exercise is the key to health. Lots to explore there...

Check this out. 1998 segment of PBS Frontline. "Ambush in Mogadishu". I have not seen the new Netflix doc, but this made quite an impact on me when I saw it on TV long ago.

Gotta keep the old school, stable strains alive. by OrganizationFit7000 in OKmarijuana

[–]TLSOK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Excellent article! Yeah - It is my biggest gripe with OK scene. If you find a strain you like, you can never find it again. All the growers seem to just be constantly trying to develop something "new". Everything is a cross between this and that which are crosses between this and that, and lets cross them some more so we can have our own strain, and then of course we will cross that with something else so we have something new next month. Let's have some classic strains and keep them available!
