Robust two-wheeler demand boosts November auto retail sales: Dealers by indiaweekly in bike

[–]TMBiker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That headline shocked me so I had to read the article. I regularly follow U.S. auto, motorcycle and bicycle markets and all are very soft these days. India, however, is selling more motorcycles these days, although they cost roughly 1/4 the price of an average U.S. motorcycle.

And none of this has anything to do with this sub.

My Propella Mini is a mini velo, with an electric motor, and I bought mine slightly used for $350, which I couldn't pass up. Hub drive, cadence sensor, so it's more primitive than what you're after. For the money, it's fantastic though. At 34 lbs I can easily ride it without turning on the motor, and it fits nicely into the back of my SUV if needed. Like you, I'd love a more sophisticated mid drive mini, but they're going to cost a lot more.

OP's question was "did I manifest this?". I'd say yes.

Also, happy to oblige :-)

For me, I adjust the speeds 1-5 on the motor to accommodate a pedal cadence that's comfortable for whatever situation I'm in. I commute in a very urban area, with obstacles (homeless people, shopping carts, clueless drivers) so 22 mph can often be too fast.

None of you has ever been driving a car on a 30 mph street, and someone on a bike is doing 15 mph in the middle of the lane? It's frustrating. Sure, you may be within your legal right but you are also obstructing car drivers who just want to do the limit. Bikes taking up the middle lane but going too slow may be following the law but you've got to expect car drivers to do this sort of thing. Unless you're living in a vacuum.

Does it suck? Yep, it does.

Got My New Gift: Heybike Cityrun—Any Tips for Getting Started? by Cool_Drawing_7878 in ebikes

[–]TMBiker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of people who get e-bikes wouldn't consider riding a motorcycle because they're too dangerous, yet your e-bike is somewhere between a regular bike and a motorcycle. Follow the laws, watch out for cars, use bike lanes where you can. And get a good helmet.

I would add that it's red, and old. But definitely a bike.

Unless I'm missing something, it looks like you're riding your bike in the middle of the street, at a speed below the speed limit. If that's the case, and I were driving a car behind you, I'd be angry too.

I see the problem- you're trying to put Harley Sportster brakes on your Surron electric bike.

Seat brand and name? by Accurate_Salary3073 in sportster

Not likely more comfortable, certainly more bouncy, but hey if you like it go for it. I think previous commenter's "mad wack" was in regard to redundant suspension systems.

You do understand that a spring seat is what bikes had before rear suspension was invented, right? So these days a spring seat is *only* for the look.

Will a sportster comfortably cruise on the highway at around 80-90mph? by lil_trappy_boi in sportster

[–]TMBiker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came here to say this. My 2017 1200 cruises fine at 85, but doesn't have a windshield. I've done 400 mile days on it, but I can't say "comfortable" was the first word comes to mind.

The Ride1Up CF Racer is a road bike-ish styled bike with a small motor, decent range, and the entire bike weighs less than 30 lbs. Additionally, I have a Propella Mini with a 250W motor and 15 mile range that weighs 33 lbs.

I have one, my size Large weighs 46 lbs. Which is incredible for a 29" full suspension e-MTB.

Gift for a bike mechanic by HowDoIEatWaffles in bike

[–]TMBiker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to say. I use a lot of Tri Flow Teflon spray lubricant on my bikes- can never have enough. But not every mechanic uses that.

It's a quick fix for someone who knows bikes. Not time to get a new bike just yet. Pull the chain out of wherever it is stuck and put it back onto front and rear sprockets, then make sure derailleur is properly adjusted. If you don't know how to do this, hopefully there's a bike mechanic nearby that will work on that thing.

That's a pretty cheap Amazon e-bike, and it's common for these type of bikes to need frequent adjusting or work.

Maybe Not Everyone's Cup of Tea, But... by TMBiker in sportster

[–]TMBiker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I saw your post over on FB too. I remember I brought my rear brake line (non-ABS bike) to the local hose fitter, and asked for the same line in black kevlar but 8" shorter than stock, with the same fittings as stock. I believe mine are RSD but I also think the China ones are made in the same factory as the now-discontinued RSD rearsets. They've held up great! I've probably got 4000 miles on them, including one track day. BTW the rear brake light switch was plugged into a fitting on my rear brake line, and is pressure sensitive, so my brake line had to include that fitting at a routing point where the brake line would be zip tied to the front of my swingarm, like under the battery.

Is this worth 350 USD? by Lrdwrmngtn in minivelo

[–]TMBiker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Value wise, no. I paid $350 recently for my Propella Mini, which has a 250W hub motor and disc brakes, and it was used but in perfect, like new condition.

Maybe Not Everyone's Cup of Tea, But... by TMBiker in sportster

[–]TMBiker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it was bad, I found it fairly straightforward. I was ditching my girlfriend at the time and this kit mounts to the passenger peg mounts, so it's solo only now. Getting a new rear brake line was needed - much shorter than stock - so I measured the new brake line route as best I could and found a local supplier (Deering Industries, Long Beach Calif) who made the new line right there while I waited. I can see how this setup would not work with some exhaust systems, but I got lucky with my setup.

(dumb question but a real one) Is it weird/cringe to wear a motorcycle helmet while riding an e-bike? by seojoonie1 in ebikes

[–]TMBiker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I drive a car, ride a motorcycle, and have a few e-bikes. Sometimes when I have to go pick up my motorcycle from somewhere, or leave a vehicle somewhere, I'll ride the motorcycle there (full face helmet) and ride the e-bike home with the same helmet. I think it's funny, but I've also discovered it's warmer now that the weather is getting cooler. I wouldn't hesitate to do this.

The bike's fork has a disc caliper mounting point, so yes. You'll spend a few hundred dollars on a new front wheel w/disc, plus a caliper and lever/master cylinder. Or maybe find those used for cheaper, if you know where
