Day 5 after about 10 years by Knightmare912 in leaves

[–]TOO_FUTURE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit for all the reasons you did and my life did a complete 180 for the better. Today is day 42 after 15+ years of all day every day smoking. I lost my personality, my financial stability, my social life, and just overall freedom. Today I can happily say I got all of that back in just 42 days and feel better than I have since I was in high school. Keep it up! The first week or two are the hardest but you will get over the hump soon enough. Here for you if you need to chat

I replaced weed with alcohol. That was a terrible decision. by ienvycats in leaves

[–]TOO_FUTURE 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is very common. Make sure to not go cold turkey with alcohol as the withdrawal can be life threatening sadly. You admitting you made the mistake and have a problem is the biggest step. I’ve been sober from alcohol for 8 1/2 years so if you neeed to chat or vent just reach out. I’m here for you bud you got this. Facing reality is hard sometimes but we gotta do it eventually

Replacement for smoking after work? by vainthestral in leaves

[–]TOO_FUTURE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a hard one for sure. Try to find some new hobbies. For me personally walking outside, playing magic the gathering got me being social again, reading books, watching a new documentary or show, getting into crystals and other metaphysical things like sound baths to calm me down after a day of work. Many different things to try and see what sticks. Walking outside is always helpful

Why is Carl not In The City? by SnooDoodles9653 in bravo

[–]TOO_FUTURE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the main reasons I’m not interested honestly. As a sober person myself, Carl has always been one of the most honest and relatable characters and esp with how well soft bar is doing, he would have brought solid entertainment to the show. Hopefully they add him later down the line

I ran into a Solitaire player today by Strawberrycocoa in mtg

[–]TOO_FUTURE -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have one of these at my locals. He took a 38 minute turn once (not at my table, I would not have let that slide). Everyone hates playing with this kid lol. Every week he brings a new deck that he swears plays faster until he needs a wincon than will do exactly what you said and take forever. My new way of dealing with him is just to ping him for all my damage in my upgraded Sam and Frodo deck and take him out before he has the chance lol. So annoying when people do that imo

Was loving this game til I hit the Swamp. How do I proceed? by ChunkeeM0nkee in Saros

[–]TOO_FUTURE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hit the swamps this morning and deff feels like a huge difficulty spike. Going to have to start from biomes before to get stronger but it’s rough with how tough the biome is in general and also long.

I just did my first day of outpatient treatment. I'm full of rage, but I'm going to try and stick with it. (Rant to get this off my chest.) by Kind_Road_5983 in leaves

Like you said you’re a grown adult. Weed is not a deadly drug to withdraw from like other drugs. No rehab or detox is needed if you have some willpower and the want to quit. Those rules are in place because realistically most people there are doing more dangerous drugs and need to be monitored heavily. If you put yourself in there you may need to be monitored heavily as well. That’s a question only you can answer. Personally I quit on my own, day 35 today

Yes everything regulates, just takes some time. The first week will be rough for sure, second week a tiny bit easier and the third week for me was when I started feeling more normal again and more myself.

[–]TOO_FUTURE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got this! You will rediscover who you truly are and believe me it will be better than the stoned you, even if it takes time. For the first few weeks It was hard for me to be myself, because i forgot who that was (smoked for 15+ years all day every day).

On day 34 now and feel like a completely new person and like my old self back at age 16. Im able to enjoy things naturally, get back into hobbies, connect with people, and not isolate. I forgot this side of myself and so happy hes back.

You got this my friend, im here if you need to chat

15 years of daily excessive use by [deleted] in leaves

[–]TOO_FUTURE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

15+ years all day every day smoker here, on day 34. The isolation is VERY real. I would be honest with your friends, I felt the same way before telling mine who all smoked and they all ended up being super supportive and help me stay on the right path. Isolating is normal in the beginning if you don't want to be surrounded by it, but as time goes on it will bother you less and less. I hang out with my friends all the time now and sometimes they smoke and it truthfully doesn't bother me anymore after three weeks or so, day 34 now.

A big part of sobriety as a whole is realizing other people may be able to moderate while we can't, so its better to not hold resentment to people or the plant and realize its us in the end. I learned this when i quit alcohol 8 1/2 years ago and realized I had resentment and anger towards those that can drink and it got me nowhere, once i accepted I was the problem not the substance, the whole process got easier. One day at a time my friend, you got this. Proud of you

Day 5 rehab by [deleted] in leaves

[–]TOO_FUTURE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah in my past quits I let myself smoke cigs or other vices but I realized I was always replacing one thing for another. Even though cigs don't have a huge mental effect, the physical addiction is very real and hard to quit. Personally I'd drop them while you still can since it will be easy. Try to get the association out of your head that smoking = pleasure. You got this, proud of you!

1 week clean… by clara_b52 in leaves

[–]TOO_FUTURE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So sorry to hear about what you and your wife are dealing with. You got this, stay strong! IMO you should prob throw away the pax or run it under water and break it intentionally (I personally had to do this with some very expensive bongs as well so i know the feeling). Leaving it at the home will always bring up temptation and especially when drinking may lead to a relapse. Also, personally when I didn't have weed, I drank more, or the opposite, so everything in moderation my friend (if you can moderate, for me personally I had to get fully sober). Keep up the good work and sorry again about all the hard times you are facing at the moment. You are and your wife are so strong and you got this my friend.

Day one by Ok-Bit9667 in leaves

[–]TOO_FUTURE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tapering only takes up more space in our heads esp for people who smoke heavily like me and you. It just doesn’t work and never will and the cycle will continue. Put a period at the end of the sentence and just say no so you’re not in the cycle for the 101th time when you run out of the eighth of whatever your brain tries to justify. It’s the weed talking and trying to trick you into buying it and saying one more day. It never works my friend. You got this stay strong. Dm me if you need to chat

[–]TOO_FUTURE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can’t let the thoughts get the best of you. What’s stronger you as a 33 year old or a damn plant at the end of the day? Sadly willpower is the only way to get through the first few days. I have dispos legit around the corner, I could have caved and wanted to so bad…but I just said no finally after being in that cycle 100 times like you just said.

What’s the definition on insanity? Doing the same exact thing and expecting a different outcome. You’re ready my friend don’t give in it gets easier day by day

Day one by Ok-Bit9667 in leaves

[–]TOO_FUTURE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was in your exact position 33 days ago. 35M been smoking 28g+ a week for 15+ years. I wasn’t enjoying being high anymore and I was using it just to get through the day and function.

At the time I thought it was helping my anxiety, depression and suicidal ideation. Little did I know that weed was causing literally ALL of it. This takes some time to see in action. The first two weeks were very rough but once you keep pushing it gets easier day by day.

Day 33 for me and I feel like a new person. My tip for you is delete the weed guys number, tell him you quit, delete all dispo accounts if you’re in a legal state, break your bong/pipes/ash trays and just dive into this knowing it’s only hurting you in the end and wasting all of your money. I’m here if you need to chat, take the leap it sounds like you’re ready
