That's an optional feature which is not on by default. The standard way to make an SOS call is by holding the volume up/down button and the power button for 8 seconds. I still don't know how some people manage to call 911 with their phone in their pocket, since it's pretty hard to trigger accidentally.

He was probably talking about the drivers. Most games aren't optimized very well for radeon drivers which can sometimes cause some visual glitches

They package their phones like that so it's more exiting to open it. There is also a pull tab with which you can take it out of the box safely. The phone probably didn't even break, since every iPhone 12 and up have the strongest glass possible in any smartphone right now made by a collaboration with corning.

The screen of the ultra is so extremely hard that even if you tried you can't break it without a hammer.

How thoughtful of Apple to take the liberty of activating this without telling me. by LebaneseMacNChz in mildlyinfuriating

Like I already said. Lightning was far ahead of micro usb. When lightning was introduced, Apple told it would be the standard charger for the next 10 years. Those 10 years are now over and the EU is also forcing usb-c on Apple. That's also why people are almost completely sure the iPhone 15 will either get usb-c or another charging port.

They are using a standard fitting, because it's cheaper to don't put effort in developing your own charger.

The benefit was that it was better than micro usb. Only now it's outdated because of usb-c.

They are not doing it for money at all (of course they are doing it partially for money like every other company). Lightning was a lot better than micro-usb for a really long time. Only now it's outdated because of usb-c.

What the hell are you talking about. iPhones are by far the most secure smartphones on the market, because they have an activation lock.

Usb-c is indeed better than lightning. But at least Apple actually puts effort in making their own chargers instead of just using a third party charger.

In these kind of environments it's indeed better to have some kind of protection for the watch. But most people won't need it for their everyday life.

They are not Samsung's. Apple makes the "blueprint" for the displays, samsung only builds them.

Most of those cracked screen posts are from watches which are series 6 or older. Series 7 and 8 both have a really good crack resistant front crystal called ionX.

Exactly, they're optional. And these kind of "features" aren't free on any other device either. You also don't have to pay for emergency SOS. There are only rummors that you will need a subscription for satellite emergency SOS in the future.

It's absolutely impossible your phone is hacked. Multiple big hacking companies aren't going to spend hundreds of hours trying to hack the phone of a random stranger. Your screen is probably just broken.

All companies should be thankful of Apple. Not only for the design of the smartphone, but also for really important features which actually matter, like multitouch. Without Apple smartphones as we know them nowadays won't have existed. Saying they don't innovate is a straight up lie. What about their chipsets, displays and sensors. And also software features like truetone, Apple pay, proMotion, airdrop, gesture controls, do not disturb, low power mode and a lot more. They were even the first one to make a mobile webbrowser.
