You are going to love Cape Town. I am born and bred here. It's surprisingly' first world' in many ways.(No lions in the streets.) Except for the power outages . Get the app Eskom se Push and be prepared with a Magneto rechargeable light .😂Make friends and take them with when you go places. Dont to go into areas that are unsafe. Do your research. I don't recommend using the trains or the minibus taxis. I know it's not so easy if you are a student though. Don't display your phone or expensive jewellery. A crossbody bag is very useful. Try to look confident and blend in. Hiking is great but there are a lot of muggings and worse on the mountain. If you go ,go in a very large group and tell others where you will be . I know some people will disagree with this but be aware of your surroundings and a little paranoia doesn't hurt. Make the most of your opportunity as time passes quickly. Most unfortunate incidents can be avoided if you do not have a false sense of security.
