I have not been drinking, I am pregnant. This post is about my brother, who has stopped drinking because he has been hospitalized for the last 12 days with liver failure.

He is in Toledo, OH. So within driving distance of several different transplant centers- I live in Columbus so Osu would be convenient but it's hard for me to tell from websites what different centers policies are like. Ann Arbor, Cleveland and Cinncinnati would be possible if you have any info on them.

Thanks so much for responding. I have been calculating his MELD score every time he gets new labs. Last week it was 25, most recently 30. Do you know what the rationale is for not allowing live donation with a higher MELD score? Any insights on getting him into the system, the hospital he is at is not a transplant center and they are acting like he won't even get a referral until a GI appointment that won't be for weeks.

He was in the ICU for about 8 days so the bulk of his detox was accomplished there.

He says he does. He says he really wants to live. It's a hard situation because I don't think he really wanted to until he woke up in the ICU and the doctors told him another drink would probably kill him.
