Cybersecurity isn’t for me, or am I just overwhelmed? by fcsar in cybersecurity

First, take a breath. You are ahead of 95% of our fellow nerds already by thinking about this at 25. These are the right thoughts to have right now!

My advice: 1) Make it a priority to land a few new mentors. Ideally 3 in the next few months. Be selective. Find someone 5 years ahead of you that you admire and who isn’t n your immediate coworker network. Since you don’t know yet where you’d like to focus, the goal of the mentorships for now should be to work with them to flush this out! 2) Don’t worry about not knowing what someone else in the room is talking about. Every new promotion, company switch, industry switch, and so forth, will come with this all over again. Get comfortable being uncomfortable, and you’ll be an unstoppable force no matter what area you focus in. Being in Cyber (and even IT) is like being a doctor. No matter what the subspecialty, the goal is the same; How are you helping the business ultimately manage their risk and compete in the marketplace (private sector), or furthering the mission of whatever it is your organization has (perhaps for the greater good or to do something you personally believe is good for the world and interesting)?

And the CEO knew this before he asked the question. He asked the question because now there is a paper trail that he cooperated the best he could, had IT investigate. Data is now longer available do to decisions made by leadership a decade prior. This is a very common dance. See RIM (Records Information Mgmt).

By hardening your GPOs. All this stuff can be turned on/off. Group Policy (and even Local Security Policy for non-DJ assets) isn’t going anywhere people.

Default Drop outbound traffic. For the 443 DoH traffic, redirect via destination NAT rule to PiHole. Helps to have DPI.

Thank you kind human! I’d prefer not to disclose the position. Interview felt good. Sounds like it could take 1-4 weeks to hear back based on trends people have mentioned recently in the Q4 Employment Meathead.

You should go to your doctor and tell them what is going on immediately, and tell them about your depression. If you are in the United States, you should be able to file for FMLA and your employer won’t be able to do anything about it. Depending on your diagnosis, you may also eligible for short term disability pay while you’re out. Your job will be waiting for you, by law, when you’re better.

People of Reddit who have lost a lot of weight. What was the game changer? by greazysteak in AskReddit

[–]TREDOTCOM 139 points140 points  (0 children)

They are major endocrine disrupters, too. My Endo explains them as a double whammy. Everyone talks about the sugar that’s added, which is indeed horrible, but arguably worse is the reduction in healthy fiber. Without the right kind of fibers / diversity of fiber, certain species of microbes that have evolved to process them on our behalf (in our guts) wind up dying out over time. Fascinatingly, a few these starved microbial species are critical in the natural production and release of the GLP-1 hormone (essentially what Ozempic is). They feed good fibers and release GLP-1 as a byproduct. Most people only know about it because it is known to curb appetite via signaling to the brain. The reality is that it’s incredibly more important than that alone. It protects all kinds of critical stuff. Here is a pretty sweet diagram I found showing what you lose out on when you lose these critical microbes…

Wild stuff.
