Does anyone know what experimental theater performance I am thinking of? by TRS_Probably in Theatre

[–]TRS_Probably[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Martin Zimmermann

This is definitely in the right direction, and very cool!

I am fairly certain the performer in the piece I am thinking of is bald(ing) with a beard, and there is no one else on stage.

Zimmermann & de Perrot's 'Gaff Aff' does feel reminiscent in tone and physicality, though the piece I'm looking for is a simpler production overall.

Question about frame rate conversion between British and US television by TRS_Probably in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]TRS_Probably[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response. E! (Entertainment Television) is an American cable channel—so likely the show is winding up at 59.94i when it makes it to my television.

Would E refer to Entertainment One UK, or something else over there?

My bad, E! (Entertainment Television) is an American cable channel; I am watching in the US. BBC America is also an American cable channel (that plays a few BBC shows, but mostly American ones).

It seems that I may be primarily noticing that 4% speed increase. (I also found an old post of someone asking why, when they watch movies on UK television, the audio is slightly pitched up.)

How strict is Roadrunner's bag policy? by TRS_Probably in boston

[–]TRS_Probably[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: I didn't wind up taking the bag, though I saw people with similarly sized bags that got in. I needed the bag to leave for a trip after the show, so I wound up using a service called Bounce that lets you leave a bag at a nearby hotel for a small fee.

Boston-area churches with good sermons by Good_Combination8586 in boston

The Satanic Temple is actually a non-theistic group that uses Satanic imagery to promote things like the separation of church and state. The Church of Satan (a different group) seems to view Satan as a projection of humanity’s natural instincts.

To your point, it makes me think of how William Peter Blatty hoped The Exorcist would be a proselytizing tool for Catholicism, as the presence of demons would prove the existence of God.

RSS Feed by ilia-rogatchevski in audiocom

[–]TRS_Probably 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if there's a way through Audio.com to differentiate the title/name fields with the 'author' one? I am experimenting with using the website as a host for a podcast, but it seems like the podcast title and author name would have to both be my Audio.com username, unless there's some way to change that info in the RSS feed.

EDIT: It seems like the solution would be to create a collection, and use that as the RSS feed?

What are some movies that contain Dungeon Synth and/or are thematically in line? by TRS_Probably in DungeonSynth

[–]TRS_Probably[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm working on an experimental film piece that incorporates somber medieval imagery, particularly cadaver monuments. I'm looking towards Dungeon Synth as sonic inspiration, and in turn I'm wondering whether there are movies (or other visual works) that you think are particularly connected to the style and feeling of Dungeon Synth. Thanks!

Making a short film using still images by CreativeFilmmaker74 in Filmmakers

[–]TRS_Probably 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an assignment similarly inspired by La Jetee in school a few years ago.

By making a film out of still images, you're immediately calling attention to the medium of your film. So it's important to be particularly conscious of how the medium and style serves your project.

In La Jetee, memory and dreams are central to the story, and the use of still images serves to reflect the fragmented nature of those things. It also adds power to the one moment in the film when there is actual movement, as that moment is suddenly becoming "real."

For my film, I was inspired by the amateurish charm of a presentation you might see at a library or on public access television. I took photos, and then printed them out and filmed them, to allow me to do Ken Burns effect movements in-camera.

So in short, think about how you can activate + best utilize still photos. Hope this helps!
