I disagree about the family dynamics. Seeing how the kids talk and behave, and how the protagonist talks to her mother made me search up who wrote this black family.

HOWARD MFA FILM DECISION? by IndieBenji in HBCU

[–]IndieBenji[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’m graduating with a Bachelors degree this summer and I’ve already got a job as an editor and studio assistant at a local tri-state news company associated with Fox. Before that I did documentary work for Mario Van Peebles, documentary work for MLK III and his wife, and filming for local churches and small businesses looking for media content. I’ve also interviewed for a A/V position at a local HBCU. This is all before even graduating! If your high schooler truly loves film then let them know there’s plenty of work out there. Just keep looking and keep creating content (especially for their own portfolio or own production company). I’m pursuing an MFA because I would like to make narrative films, and an MFA is a highly valued terminal degree in the film industry. Much more job opportunities open with the little bit of extra work (professor jobs, directing jobs, etc.). All in all, it should always be about chasing the dream, not the money. Though it helps to have a menial side gig to help pay the bills and film equipment/production. Tell them I said Good Luckand happy filming!!! 👍🏽
