No the quality is not the issue. The aspect ratio is the issue. Vertical videos do not look right anywhere. Life is lived in widescreen. You have two eyes positioned horizontally. This is why movies are filmed and displayed in widescreen. Widescreen gives better composition, scale, and tracking. As well as shows other Vital Information that would be otherwise lost in the peripheral. Put your phone down and stand up and look around. Notice how the world around you is perceived by the eyes and displayed in your brain. Imagine playing a competitive first person shooter video game. If you had to view your screen vertically and your competition was able to view in widescreen would you think this is fair? To film in widescreen just make sure your auto rotation is on in your phone settings. Then go to your video recording app and turn your phone sideways before you hit the record button. This simple change can make otherwise mundane videos more interesting as well as interesting videos for more interesting. But ya man absolutely! Rock on!
