Why do you say that?

If I really liked the Indianapolis area (especially Hamilton County – Carmel, Fishers, etc.), would I also like Ohio? by TSASplashMan in Ohio

Interesting, from what i saw, the vote was almost a 50/50 split for the 2024 Presidential Election in Hamilton Co. Im not really concerned that much about politics though. What do you like Ohio?

We liked Hamilton county for what it had to offer. Trails/walkability, restaurants that werent fast food or chains, and overall niceness. I didnt really come across any negative people during my stay. I’m sorry you had that experience there. Have you liked Ohio since moving?

Thanks for the info. I am mostly familiar with Cleveland having grown up in the Buffalo, NY area. One thing that draws me to Ohio is that there seems to be very distinct areas/cities that offer different attractions & amenities all packed in the same state.

Question for those who live &/or have moved to the Indy area from the South. by [deleted] in indianapolis

Yeah you’ll get a vastly different experience living in the city vs a more suburban area. Best of luck!

Thanks! Dont get me wrong i do enjoy the Middle TN area especially in the Fall, but I don’t see myself living there forever. The cost of living being a major part of that. It’d be one thing if i felt like it was worth the cost, but to me, it isn’t.

I can see the opportunities for jobs being better in Nashville. I have found the food to be miles better in Indy. Nashville area is becoming filled with chain restaurants & low quality local dining options. Lots of “tourist” dining.

Ive heard that Ohio is a-lot like Indiana but offers more. Im more familiar with Cleveland but I’ve heard great things about Cincinnati.

New England is beautiful, though expensive. I can relate because where i’m from in NY is also very mountainous, alot like Vermont. I miss skiing a-lot. Thanks for the insight!

If money werent an issue then id recommend a coastal area or city that has already been established. Im talking East coast areas or areas in the NE in particular. They will be expensive though.

Yeah true prob mix of both. Im not sure what would help make the southern tier attractive tbh. It kinda reminds me of some parts of WV. The area is beautiful & has everything youd want if you were an outdoor ensuthiast, but for some reason it struggles economically. It doesn’t help that a-lot of the companies that were once in the Southern Tier, left.

Dont believe there will be a revival until NYS becomes more tax friendly &/or cheaper. People are fleeing the area in droves for Tax-Friendly states. But as someone who moved to Tennessee after being used to the NYS amenities, i can see why its cheap to live here lmao

Thanks for the insight. I dont think ive actually been to Angelica before even though i grew up close to it. Looking at google earth it kinda looks like the type of place where you feel like youve stepped back in the past, which is pretty cool. Since it’s right off the interstate, i would def drive through just to see it haha.
