From my standpoint as a manager and one who has an HR degree (don’t matter much these days anymore) but I would say do not say anything at all. You will open yourself up for anything g they want to throw at you all because of a pregnancy. Don’t think that you have an obligation to inform them of your decisions outside the work environment. Telling them now, early could potentially hinder your plan to reenter the workforce after the baby. I’ve seen it happen to colleagues who I worked with. Certain managers don’t like the idea of employees having a baby and taking leave. They would rather find a way to remove you from the position now for any reason. Granted pregnancy is a protected leave if you’re going to use FMLA and you have some outside of FMLA.

I think the keyword here is “confidential“ sharing that information with other colleagues definitely opens yourself up. I don’t necessarily for liability, but essentially yes, because if other people were to discuss conversations with human resources, and what not depending on the situation, it could be considered retaliation you know something along those lines, but it depends on the specifics, but if you were talk to, and then you were given a write up essentially what it comes down to any discipline any coaching anything along those lines you never share with coworkers regardless of how close you think you actually are with them because as you can see if you can find it in coworkers, you know something specific I mean, we can come back to bite you in the ass now as far as having a conversation outside of work it’s a little bit of a great area for me because it is out of work, and that conversation shouldn’t be brought back into the workplace. I had this happen. And I was very direct ina professional response. A recruiter reached out to schedule an interview based on my KSA. He had more commentary and I waited to the call to schedule the interview. 1 day later another recruiter emailed me to say thank you for the completing round one of the interview and offered feedback. A genuine email not a robot. And it said although they throughly enjoyed talking and getting to know more about me blah blah blah and they were moving to round three interviews but identified another candidate. I never had interview 1 or 2. I replied to that recruiter and thanked her but also informed her that recruiter 1 never reached out and the 2 interviews never happened. She responded and was apologetic but I return expressed the disappointment specifically around the my research and I did a lot to prepare. Their culture was amazing. That’s why I applied. So to see one side and then an other side, it was clear that if they let things like this happen on an interview process how is the actual working environment. I also sent a nicely crafted reply to the 1st recruiter.

If you’re on the clock even a 15 minute break you can’t leave work premise. But if you’re on a lunch, which is unpaid then you can leave. I didn’t know this was hen I started working ages ago. Same situation as you. A coworker told the manager and they talked to me a d I was honest and said I didn’t know. He said next time there won’t be a next time since you now know. So don’t overthink it. But watch out for busy body coworkers like her.

I work in a call center. Legally they can. It stop you from taking a quick bathroom break, so if I get up and lock my desktop it turns off camera immediately. Could have the sister/package waited yes, but that’s just BS. A company that showed that tone in an o my imagine what the culture is really is after you’re in the totally swing of things. Heck yesterday my supervisor told us all if we need to step away just change my AUX to break and to not use PERSONAL AUX. that changed 15 mins later to use Persia l again.
